Role Description The Retail Store Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of The Local Yard’s retail space, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for all visitors. This full-time, in office role in Chennai includes supervising staff, managing schedules, monitoring inventory, and maintaining visual merchandising standards that reflect the brand and the work of independent makers.

The manager will handle customer interactions, resolve issues, and drive customer satisfaction while monitoring sales performance, managing cash handling, and implementing retail loss prevention practices. The role also involves coordinating with vendors and makers, supporting promotional activities, maintaining store cleanliness and safety, and preparing regular reports for management.

Qualifications

- Strong customer-focused skills, including Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction, with the ability to build long-term relationships.
- Proven Store Management experience, including staff supervision, scheduling, and day-to-day retail operations.
- Clear and professional Communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, staff, and independent makers.
- Knowledge of Retail Loss Prevention practices, including stock control, cash handling oversight, and shrink reduction measures.
- Experience in retail or hospitality, preferably in lifestyle, design, or food-focused environments.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and comfort with basic reporting and POS systems.
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai with a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Relevant education in business, retail management, hospitality, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory; equivalent experience is valued.
