Role Description The Refer OOG Ocean Freight Domain Expert will be responsible for managing and overseeing out-of-gauge (OOG) and special cargo movements within the ocean freight segment. This full-time, on-site role based in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region involves designing and optimizing OOG shipment plans, coordinating with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations and safety standards. The role includes preparing and reviewing technical loading plans, stowage proposals, and method statements, as well as analyzing costs, transit times,



and route options to deliver efficient and reliable solutions.

The domain expert will provide guidance to sales and operations teams on feasibility, risk assessment, pricing, and execution strategies for project and OOG cargo. Day-to-day responsibilities also include monitoring shipments, resolving operational challenges, maintaining documentation accuracy, and contributing to process improvements and best practices in the ocean freight vertical.

Qualifications

- Strong expertise in ocean freight operations, with specific experience in out-of-gauge (OOG), special cargo, and project logistics.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations, carrier requirements, port operations, and safety and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in route planning, capacity and equipment selection (flat racks, open-top containers, breakbulk), and load/stowage planning.
- Experience in working with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and global logistics networks for complex and high-value shipments.
- Ability to analyze costs, margins, and transit time trade-offs, and to prepare competitive, technically sound proposals for customers.
- Robust communication and stakeholder management skills for collaboration with internal teams, partners, and customers.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong documentation, reporting, and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field; advanced certifications in logistics or shipping are an advantage.
