Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Quality Head to lead the Quality Assurance and Quality Control function for our Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) manufacturing operations.

The incumbent will be responsible for establishing and maintaining quality systems across design coordination, raw materials, fabrication, welding, surface preparation, painting/coating, dispatch and site erection, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and customer requirements.

The role requires strong knowledge of PEB manufacturing processes, structural steel fabrication, welding, dimensional inspection, NDT, painting/coating systems and quality documentation.

Key Responsibilities1. Quality Management

- Develop, implement and continuously improve the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Establish quality standards, procedures, inspection plans and control systems for PEB manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, approved drawings, project requirements and applicable national/international standards.
- Define quality objectives, KPIs and quality improvement initiatives.
- Drive a strong quality culture across production, projects and site operations.

2. Incoming Material Quality
- Establish inspection procedures for incoming raw materials such as:
- Structural steel plates and coils
- H-beams / sections
- Galvanized sheets
- Welding consumables
- Bolts, fasteners and accessories
- Paints and coating materials
- Verify MTCs/material certificates and ensure material traceability.
- Coordinate material testing and third-party inspections wherever required.

3. Fabrication & Production Quality
- Monitor quality throughout the PEB manufacturing process, including:
- Cutting and shearing
- CNC operations
- Drilling
- Fit-up
- Welding
- Straightening
- Assembly
- Surface preparation
- Painting/coating
- Final inspection
- Establish stage-wise inspection checkpoints and hold points.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy, weld quality, structural integrity and workmanship.
- Monitor and reduce rejection, rework,



repair and customer complaints.

4. Welding Quality
- Establish and maintain welding quality procedures and standards.
- Review/approve WPS, PQR and welder qualification requirements.
- Ensure qualified welders and appropriate welding processes are used.
- Monitor welding parameters, fit-up, preheating and other process controls.
- Coordinate NDT activities such as UT, MPI, DPT and other applicable testing.

5. Dimensional & Final Inspection
- Ensure inspection of fabricated components against approved drawings and specifications.
- Monitor critical dimensions, hole locations, member alignment, straightness and tolerances.
- Conduct final inspection before dispatch.
- Ensure proper inspection reports and release documentation are maintained.

6. Painting & Surface Treatment
- Monitor surface preparation and cleanliness requirements.
- Ensure compliance with specified blasting/cleaning standards.
- Control paint application, coating thickness, mixing ratios, curing and environmental conditions.
- Conduct DFT and other applicable coating inspections.
- Maintain complete painting/coating inspection records.

7. Quality Documentation
- Develop and maintain:
- ITPs – Inspection & Test Plans
- QAPs – Quality Assurance Plans
- Inspection checklists
- NCR reports
- Corrective/Preventive Action reports
- Material traceability records
- Welding documentation
- NDT reports
- Painting inspection reports
- Final inspection reports
- Quality dossiers
- Ensure complete documentation for customer and third-party inspections.

8. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action
- Identify and investigate quality deviations and NCRs.
- Conduct root-cause analysis using appropriate problem-solving techniques.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Track closure of internal and customer NCRs.
- Analyze recurring defects and implement permanent solutions.

9. Customer & Third-Party Coordination
- Coordinate with customers, consultants, third-party inspection agencies and project teams.
- Handle customer inspections and quality-related discussions.




- Resolve technical quality issues and customer complaints effectively.
- Support project teams during inspection, dispatch and erection stages.

10. Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the QA/QC team, inspectors and quality engineers.
- Define responsibilities and inspection authority within the quality function.
- Conduct regular training on quality standards, drawings, welding, inspection and workmanship.
- Build a proactive, prevention-oriented quality culture.

11. Continuous Improvement
- Track quality KPIs such as:
- Rejection %
- Rework %
- NCR frequency
- Customer complaints
- First-pass yield
- Cost of poor quality
- On-time inspection clearance
- Implement Lean/Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to reduce quality-related costs and improve production efficiency.

Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of PEB and structural steel fabrication processes.
- Excellent understanding of structural steel drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of welding processes and welding inspection.
- Knowledge of NDT methods and inspection practices.
- Knowledge of surface preparation and industrial painting systems.
- Solid understanding of dimensional inspection and tolerances.
- Familiarity with relevant IS/ASTM/AWS/EN/ISO standards, as applicable to projects.
- Knowledge of QMS and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with production, engineering, projects, procurement and customers.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
