Role Summary

We are looking for a experienced QA Engineers with robust knowledge of Healthcare Interoperability, HL7, FHIR, APIs, and healthcare data exchange workflows.

The resource will be responsible for validating the interoperability platform, including healthcare message exchange, data transformation, mapping, routing, API integrations, and end-to-end communication between healthcare systems such as EHR/EMR, laboratories, HIEs, and other external systems.

The candidate should be comfortable validating both functional workflows and the underlying healthcare data/messages.

Experience

- 4+ years of overall Software Testing / QA experience.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in Healthcare IT / Healthcare Interoperability testing preferred.
- Hands-on experience with HL7 v2.x and/or FHIR is strongly preferred.
- Strong experience in API and integration testing.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of the interoperability platform.
- Validate healthcare data exchange between source and target systems.
- Test HL7 messages such as ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, MDM or similar healthcare message types.
- Validate HL7 segments, fields, message structure, mandatory/optional fields, and business rules.
- Test FHIR REST APIs and FHIR resources such as:
- Patient
- Encounter
- Observation
- Practitioner
- Organization
- Condition
- DiagnosticReport
- Medication / MedicationRequest
- Appointment
- Validate healthcare data transformation and mapping between:
- HL7 → HL7
- HL7 → FHIR
- FHIR → HL7
- API / JSON / XML and other supported formats.
- Verify message routing, filtering, transformation, acknowledgement, and delivery.
- Validate HL7 ACK/NACK messages and error-handling scenarios.




- Test inbound and outbound interfaces with external systems.
- Perform positive, negative, boundary, duplicate, missing-data, and invalid-data testing.
- Validate data consistency from source system through AERIS to the destination system.
- Perform REST API testing including GET, POST, PUT, PATCH and DELETE operations.
- Validate API request/response payloads, headers, status codes, authentication, authorization, and error responses.
- Validate FHIR resources against applicable profiles and implementation requirements.
- Test interface failures, retry mechanisms, message queues, duplicate processing, timeout and recovery scenarios.
- Perform database validation where required to ensure data integrity.
- Prepare detailed test scenarios, test cases, test data and execution evidence.
- Identify, document, track and retest defects through Jira or similar defect-management tools.
- Work closely with Developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Solution Architects and Integration teams.
- Participate in requirement reviews and identify interoperability/testing gaps before development.
- Support release validation and production/post-deployment verification when required.

Mandatory Technical Skills
- Strong manual testing fundamentals.
- Strong API testing experience.
- Hands-on experience with Postman or similar API-testing tools.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, JSON and XML.




- Knowledge of HL7 v2.x messaging.
- Understanding of HL7 structure including:
- MSH
- PID
- PV1
- ORC
- OBR
- OBX
- ACK
- Understanding of FHIR concepts and FHIR REST APIs.
- Familiarity with common FHIR resources and relationships.
- Good understanding of healthcare system integration and interoperability concepts.
- SQL/database validation knowledge.
- Experience with Jira or equivalent test/defect-management tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot integration failures using application logs, API responses and message payloads.

Good to Have
- Experience working with interface engines or healthcare integration platforms.
- Experience with tools such as Mirth Connect / NextGen Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, InterSystems or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of FHIR R4.
- Experience with FHIR validation tools or FHIR servers.
- Knowledge of SMART on FHIR and OAuth 2.0.
- Understanding of healthcare terminologies such as:
- ICD-10
- SNOMED CT
- LOINC
- RxNorm
- Knowledge of CDA / C-CDA.
- Understanding of healthcare security, PHI and HIPAA-related requirements.
- Experience in automation of API/integration testing using tools or frameworks such as Postman/Newman, REST Assured, Playwright, Python or equivalent.
- Performance testing experience for APIs or high-volume message processing is an added advantage.
