The Role

This is not a routine maintenance role.

The Project & Maintenance Engineer at Ooms India is a project-based, business-critical position for someone who can set up a plant independently and lead a project on their own — from layout to commissioning to steady-state operation. You'll own the site, drive the timeline, manage the budget, and make sure the plant runs safely and reliably once it's up. What You'll Do

Plant Setup & Project Execution

- Independently lead plant setup projects from site planning and layout to installation and commissioning
- Prepare and review plant layouts and engineering drawings using AutoCAD
- Develop and monitor project plans, schedules, timelines, and resource requirements using MS Project
- Prepare and review Bill of Quantities (BoQ), project cost estimates, and material requirements
- Plan, schedule and track project activities, manpower and materials, and ensure on-time completion Installation & Maintenance
- Supervise and execute installation, alignment and commissioning of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Handle equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, valves, pipelines, bearings, shafts, couplings, panels and other plant machinery
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance
- Identify equipment issues and troubleshoot breakdowns to minimise downtime Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, guide and monitor technicians, operators, contractors and site teams
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors,



suppliers and internal teams for installation and maintenance activities
- Safety, Records & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to site safety procedures, including Work Permit systems, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices
- Conduct machinery inspections and prepare maintenance schedules
- Maintain project records, maintenance checklists, reports and equipment history
- Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures, statutory requirements and maintenance standards Reporting & Improvement
- Report project progress, issues and costs to management on a regular basis
- Identify recurring breakdowns and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Support improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability

What Success Looks Like

- The plant is set up and commissioned on time and within budget, by one engineer taking full ownership
- Project plans and BoQs are accurate, so there are no cost or schedule surprises
- Breakdowns are rare, and the ones that happen get resolved fast
- Site safety practices (Work Permits, JSA, LOTO) are followed without exception

Who You Are

- 5–7 years of experience in Plant Maintenance / Project Execution
- B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering
- Proven experience of setting up a plant independently, including installation and commissioning
- Experience of leading a project independently from start to finish
- Preferred industries: Manufacturing, Process Plants, Chemical/Petrochemical, Paints & Coatings, Construction Chemicals, Polymer, Cement, Infrastructure, or similar
- Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Project
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and instrumentation
- Comfortable with ownership, ambiguity, and working on-site
- Willing to travel to Mumbai / Chennai locations as the project requires
