- Plan and coordinate construction activities from project commencement to completion.
- Prepare project execution plans, work schedules and activity timelines.
- Coordinate all construction activities with engineers, supervisors, contractors and subcontractors.
- Ensure work is executed according to approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Monitor overall project progress against the approved schedule.
- Identify delays and take corrective action.
Site Management
- Regularly inspect construction sites and monitor ongoing works.
- Coordinate site engineers, supervisors, workers, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure proper sequencing of construction activities.
- Resolve day-to-day site and technical issues in coordination with the engineering team.
- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, materials, machinery and equipment.
- Maintain proper site records and progress documentation.
Cost & Budget Control
- Monitor project expenditure against the approved budget.
- Track material, labour, equipment and subcontractor costs.
- Review project bills and work measurements.
- Coordinate with the Accounts Department regarding project expenses and payments.
- Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective measures.
- Assist in preparing project estimates and cost forecasts.
Procurement & Material Management
- Coordinate material requirements with site teams.
- Prepare or review material requirement schedules.
- Coordinate with suppliers for quotations, procurement and delivery.
- Ensure materials are available at site according to the construction schedule.
- Monitor material consumption and wastage.
- Verify material quality and specifications.
Quality Control
- Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate inspections and quality checks.
- Monitor workmanship and material quality.
- Ensure rectification of defective or non-conforming work.
- Maintain quality-related project documentation.
Client Coordination
- Act as the primary project coordination point between the company and client.
- Attend client meetings and site meetings.
- Provide regular progress updates to the client and management.
- Understand client requirements and coordinate their implementation.
- Handle project-related queries and coordinate technical clarifications.
- Maintain professional communication with clients throughout the project.
Contractor & Subcontractor Management
- Coordinate and monitor subcontractors and contractors.
- Review work progress and productivity.
- Coordinate work allocation and sequencing.
- Verify completed works and measurements.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and adherence to project schedules.
- Coordinate subcontractor bills with the accounts and engineering teams.
Safety Management
- Ensure construction activities are carried out following appropriate safety practices.
- Coordinate with site personnel regarding PPE and safe working procedures.
- Identify potential site hazards and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
- Promote a safe working environment for workers and site personnel.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly project progress reports.
- Maintain project schedules and progress records.
- Maintain site meeting minutes and action-point records.
- Track approvals, drawings, variations and pending decisions.
- Maintain records of material procurement and delivery.
- Prepare project completion and handover documentation.
B.Tech / B.E. / Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Experience:
Experience in residential, commercial, institutional or other building construction projects will be preferred.
