About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Political Communications Freelancer with solid expertise in the political and government media ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have established relationships with political journalists, editors, and leading news organisations and experience working with political parties, politicians, ministers, government stakeholders, or public affairs mandates.

Key Responsibility:

- Build and leverage strong relationships with political beat journalists, editors, and senior media professionals across print, digital, and television.
- Identify and facilitate relevant media opportunities, interviews, features, op-eds, panel discussions, and long-form stories.
- Drive meaningful engagements with Tier 1 newspapers and leading media platforms for senior executives and subject-matter experts.
- Advise on media positioning, messaging, spokesperson preparation, and interview opportunities.
- Support high-stakes or sensitive media situations,



including rapid-response communication and crisis media management, where required.
- Work closely with the internal communications team to develop media angles, pitches, talking points, and outreach plans.

Requirements
- Proven experience in political communications, political journalism, or media relations.
- Prior experience working with or around political parties, politicians, ministers, government stakeholders, or political/public affairs mandates.
- Strong, established relationships with political beat journalists and editors.
- Excellent communication, pitching, relationship-building, and editorial judgment skills.
- Ability to independently identify opportunities, make relevant introductions, and drive media engagements.
- Existing relationships with political and government reporters across national and regional media will be strongly preferred.
