Role Description The Patent Engineer – Trainee role is a full-time, in office position based in the Greater Bengaluru Area. This role involves analyzing technical inventions, conducting prior art searches, and assisting in the preparation of patent specifications and related documents. The trainee supports attorneys and senior engineers by reviewing scientific and technical literature, drafting technical descriptions, and helping respond to patent office communications.

Daily tasks include collaborating with R&D; teams or clients to understand inventions, organizing documentation, and maintaining accurate records in internal systems.



The position offers structured learning in patent law and practice, with mentorship to develop both technical and legal skills in the field of Intellectual Property.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Patent Preparation and related documentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, structured patent drafts.
- Excellent Analytical Skills, including the ability to interpret technical information, evaluate prior art, and assess patentability and scope.
- Basic understanding of Patent Law and Intellectual Property principles, with an interest in developing expertise in patent prosecution and IP strategy.
- Experience or academic exposure to Research and Development (R&D;), preferably in engineering, technology, or scientific domains.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field (e.g., mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer science, biotechnology).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work on-site in the Greater Bengaluru Area, collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, and manage multiple assignments responsibly.
- Proficiency with standard office software and online research tools; prior exposure to patent databases is an advantage.
