RESPONSIBILITIES OF OT MANAGER / OT HEAD

Department: Operation Theatre (OT)

1. OT Operations &
- Management

- Ensure smooth and efficient functioning of all OT activities.

- Plan and coordinate daily OT schedules and surgical procedures.

- Ensure proper utilization of OT time, staff, equipment, and resources.

- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing staff, and other departments.

1. Staff Management

- Supervise OT nurses, technicians, attendants, and support staff.

- Prepare duty rosters and manage staff deployment.

- Monitor attendance, punctuality, discipline, and performance.

- Identify training needs and arrange appropriate training.

1. Patient Safety &
- Clinical Standards

- Ensure compliance with OT safety protocols and hospital policies.

- Ensure proper patient identification, surgical site verification, and checklist compliance.

- Monitor infection prevention and control practices.

- Ensure proper documentation of all OT procedures and records.

1. Sterilization &
- Infection Control

- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of surgical instruments.

- Coordinate with CSSD regarding availability and timely sterilization of instruments.

- Monitor OT cleanliness, disinfection, and environmental standards.

- Ensure biomedical waste is segregated and disposed of properly.

1. Equipment &
- Inventory Management

- Ensure availability and proper functioning of OT equipment and instruments.

- Maintain records of equipment, consumables, implants, and surgical supplies.

- Coordinate with Purchase/Store/CSSD for timely availability of required materials.





- Report equipment breakdowns and coordinate timely maintenance.

1. Coordination &
- Communication

- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiology, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, housekeeping, and billing departments.

- Ensure timely communication regarding surgery schedules, cancellations, emergencies, and changes.

- Address operational issues and escalate critical matters to management.

1. Quality &
- Compliance

- Monitor OT performance indicators and maintain quality standards.

- Conduct regular audits of OT practices and documentation.

- Ensure compliance with hospital SOPs and applicable accreditation requirements.

- Take corrective and preventive actions wherever required.

1. Reporting &
- Documentation

- Maintain OT registers, surgical records, instrument records, and other required documentation.

- Prepare daily/monthly OT reports, including surgery volume, cancellations, emergencies, and other key indicators.

- Report incidents, shortages, and operational concerns to management.

1. Emergency &
- Risk Management

- Ensure OT readiness for emergency surgeries.

- Maintain availability of emergency drugs, equipment, instruments, and consumables.

- Ensure staff are aware of emergency protocols and safety procedures.

1. Overall Accountability

- Ensure safe, timely, hygienic, and productive functioning of the Operation Theatre.

- Maintain discipline, teamwork, patient safety, and professional standards within the OT department.

- Continuously identify opportunities to improve OT efficiency and patient care.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,714.83 per month
