About The Role The OT Security Architect at Lonza is a critical role responsible for reviewing, assessing, and enhancing the security architecture of both IT and Operational Technology (OT) solutions across diverse environments, including on-premises, cloud, and integrated systems. This position ensures that all systems are designed and implemented in accordance with industry security standards, hardening guidelines, and best practices. The OT Security Architect collaborates closely with project teams during the design and build phases to embed security principles from the outset, ensuring secure deployment and operation tailored to the unique operational constraints of OT environments.

Additionally, this role involves improving technical documentation practices, promoting secure development principles, and fostering a security-aware culture across teams.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, IT, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. They should demonstrate thought leadership and a solid understanding of security practices in both OT and IT domains.

Experience with cloud security, particularly in Microsoft Azure,



is essential, along with knowledge of security controls for on-premises infrastructure. The candidate should have a strong grasp of network segmentation, risk assessment, security-by-design principles, and identity and access management (IAM). Familiarity with encryption, data protection, and secure integration of APIs is also required. Prior experience in leveraging AI tools to enhance security operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive security architecture reviews for new and existing IT and OT solutions, including infrastructure, cloud services, applications, and integrations.
- Assess and validate security controls such as authentication mechanisms, logging, encryption, API security, and secure integration patterns to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Identify potential security risks and recommend effective mitigation strategies to safeguard solutions before deployment.
- Provide proactive security advisory support to project teams during the design and development phases, ensuring security-by-design principles are integrated into all solutions.
- Review and evaluate integrations and APIs to ensure secure data exchange, proper authentication, and adherence to security best practices.
- Evaluate operational constraints within OT environments and recommend security measures that balance security with operational efficiency.




- Ensure secure coding practices and application security controls are followed, including secure handling of data within applications and services.
- Assist teams in producing clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical architecture documentation, including diagrams and security controls.
- Provide guidance, tools, or automation solutions to improve documentation quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to promote a clear understanding of security concepts and ensure cohesive security strategies across projects.
- Stay updated on emerging security threats, industry trends, and advancements in OT and IT security technologies to continuously improve security posture.
