Position: Organic Farm Supervisor

Reports To: Farm Manager

Job Purpose The Farm Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing daily farm operations, including crop production, livestock management where applicable, workforce supervision, and the implementation of organic, natural, and sustainable agricultural practices. The role also oversees the distribution and sale of farm produce, ensures the efficient use of resources, supports the timely completion of farm activities, and helps achieve production and financial targets while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility. The ideal candidate should be genuinely committed to organic and natural farming and willing to continuously learn and apply relevant methods.

Key Responsibilities

Farm Operations Management

· Supervise and monitor daily agricultural activities, including ploughing, sowing, irrigation, organic fertilisation, plant protection, weeding, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.

· Ensure that all cultivation follows organic, Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF), or other approved natural farming methods; chemical inputs must not be used.

· Complete appropriate training in organic and natural farming and demonstrate a strong commitment to applying these practices.

· Ensure farm equipment and machinery remain operational through proper use, regular inspection, and timely maintenance.

· Maintain accurate inventory records for seeds, organic fertilisers, tools, equipment, and other farm inputs.

· Oversee livestock care and fodder management, where a livestock unit is present.

Labour and Workforce Supervision

· Assign duties to farm workers and supervise the quality and timely completion of their work.





· Monitor attendance, discipline, safety, and productivity across the farm workforce.

· Provide practical guidance and on-the-job training in organic, natural, and modern farming techniques.

Resource & Record Management

· Maintain accurate records of input usage, crop yields, labour attendance, operational costs, and other key farm activities.

· Monitor the use of water, energy, and agricultural inputs to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

· Assist in preparing progress reports and compiling data for management, research, or academic purposes.

Compliance & Safety

· Ensure compliance with agricultural safety standards, environmental guidelines, and institutional policies.

· Ensure the safe handling, storage, and use of organic and natural farming materials.

· Promote and implement sustainable, environmentally responsible farming practices.

Coordination & Reporting

· Provide regular operational, production, and financial updates to the Farm Manager.

· Support research, demonstration, and agricultural extension activities as directed.

· Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, buyers, and service providers as required.

· Prepare cost estimates and profit-and-loss reports for each crop cycle or harvest, and closely monitor expenditure to minimise losses and support financial sustainability.

Sales and Distribution of Farm Produce

- Identify and develop suitable market channels for the sale of farm produce.




- Coordinate the allocation of produce for internal use and manage external sales and distribution opportunities.
- Plan harvesting, storage, distribution, and sales to minimise spoilage and prevent avoidable waste.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

· Diploma or B.Sc. in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field is essential.

Experience

· Two to five years of hands-on experience in farm operations or farm supervision is preferred.

· Practical knowledge of contemporary farming techniques, crop and livestock management, and farm mechanisation.

Key Skills

· Strong leadership, supervision, and workforce management skills.

· Ability to plan, organise, prioritise, and monitor farm operations effectively.

· Working knowledge of record-keeping, budgeting, and operational reporting.

· Sound problem-solving, decision-making, and practical troubleshooting abilities.

· Clear communication and effective team-coordination skills.

· Familiarity with protected and modern cultivation systems, including polyhouses, shade-net houses, aquaponics, hydroponics, vertical gardening, and related technologies.

Performance Indicators (KPIs):

· Timely completion of sowing, irrigation, crop-care, and harvesting schedules.

· Efficient use of labour, water, energy, equipment, and farm inputs.

· Improved yields and reduced crop, livestock, and post-harvest losses.

· Accurate and timely maintenance of farm records and reports.

· Consistent workforce productivity, attendance, safety, and discipline.

· Efficient allocation, sale, and distribution of farm produce with minimal waste.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
