About the Role

Cyurae is building an AI-powered consumer product at the intersection of fashion and technology. We are hiring a Node.js Backend Developer with hands-on experience in application architecture, scalable backend development, AI service integration and AWS deployment.

You will work directly with the founding team and own backend features from design through testing, deployment and production support. AWS deployment, CI/CD pipeline management and Docker management are core requirements. Sprint planning experience is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

- Backend development and architecture: Build Node.js and TypeScript services with clear module boundaries and maintainable code. Design application architecture, data flows, API contracts and deployment structure, and document the trade-offs behind technical decisions.
- API development and integration: Develop documented REST APIs for mobile and web applications. Implement authentication, authorization, validation, pagination and secure uploads. Integrate third-party services and coordinate API contracts with mobile and frontend developers.
- Database design: Design relational schemas, queries, indexes, transactions and migrations using PostgreSQL or an equivalent database. Apply connection management and caching, and investigate query performance and data consistency issues.
- AI services and background processing: Integrate AI and machine-learning services into backend workflows. Use AWS SQS, BullMQ or RabbitMQ for background tasks, with appropriate retries, timeouts, idempotency, failure handling and job status tracking.
- Scalability and performance: Design services to handle growing workloads. Profile API latency, event-loop delays and database bottlenecks, and improve performance through caching, queues, concurrency controls and load testing.




- AWS deployment and Docker management: Deploy and operate Node.js applications on AWS. Build and manage Docker images and containers, configure application environments and AWS services, and troubleshoot deployment, networking, permissions and runtime issues.
- CI/CD and configuration management: Build and maintain pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions or Jenkins. Automate tests, Docker image builds and deployments. Manage configuration and secrets across environments, with reliable release and rollback procedures.
- Monitoring and reliability: Configure logs, metrics, alerts and health checks. Investigate production incidents, apply access controls and rate limits, protect sensitive data and support backup and recovery procedures.
- Testing and delivery: Write unit, integration and API tests, review code and maintain documentation. Work with the founding team, mobile developers, AI engineers and QA to deliver agreed features and resolve defects.

Required Skills and Experience

- 3–5 years of professional backend development experience, including production Node.js and TypeScript applications.
- Practical experience designing application architecture, API boundaries, data flows and deployment approaches, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs.
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills, including async/await, promises, the Node.js event loop and error handling.
- Experience building services with Express.js, NestJS, Fastify or an equivalent Node.js framework.
- Robust SQL and database design skills, including indexing, transactions, migrations and query optimization.



Familiarity with Redis or equivalent caching tools.
- Hands-on AWS deployment and production operations experience is mandatory. Relevant services include EC2 or ECS, S3, RDS, IAM and CloudWatch.
- Practical Docker and Linux experience, including image builds, container configuration, networking, logs and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on CI/CD pipeline management using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions or Jenkins, with familiarity with GitLab repositories and merge requests.
- Experience integrating AI or machine-learning services and using AWS SQS, BullMQ or RabbitMQ for asynchronous processing.
- Experience with automated testing, API security, monitoring and performance troubleshooting in deployed applications.
- Willingness to work full-time onsite in Gurugram. Candidates based elsewhere must be willing to relocate.

Good to Have

- Sprint planning, effort estimation, backlog refinement and task breakdown, with experience using Jira or similar tools.
- Full-stack development experience with Next.js and React.
- Infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation, automated provisioning and AWS cost optimization.
- WebSockets or server-sent events for live updates, and experience collaborating with Python-based AI teams.

What We Want to See Be ready to explain an application you personally designed, built and deployed: its architecture, database design, AI integrations, background jobs, AWS setup, Docker configuration and CI/CD pipeline.

Describe a production issue you resolved and how you verified the outcome. Highlight any contribution to sprint planning or delivery coordination.
