About The Role We are seeking a Night Planner Shift Leader to provide operational leadership and control for the night transportation-planning team. The role focuses on team coordination, transportation planning, workload allocation, escalation management, and operational risk control . The candidate will oversee the night-shift planning operation and ensure timely completion of critical activities and effective handovers.

The Shift Leader will coordinate the night-shift planning operation and allocate workload and priorities across the three Night Planners . The role involves reviewing overall planning status, unassigned loads, re-optimization requirements, carrier capacity, tender responses, and execution risks.

The candidate will validate critical operational activities, manage escalations, and intervene when issues require leadership-level decisions. The role also requires structured, action-oriented handovers to ensure open items, risks, dependencies, and time-critical activities are clearly communicated to the Governance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate the night-shift planning operation and allocate workload across Night Planners.
- Review overall planning status, including plan completion, unassigned loads, re-optimization, and manual interventions.
- Monitor outstanding tenders, carrier capacity, 3PL responses, and execution risks.
- Validate completion of critical operational checks, system updates, and required evidence.
- Manage escalations involving planning, capacity, tendering, system issues, delays, and operational exceptions.




- Review team output and ensure activities are completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Maintain a complete, exception-focused, and action-oriented shift handover with assigned owners and due times.
- Provide structured updates to the Governance Manager covering risks, dependencies, time-critical activities, and required decisions.

Required Skills

- Prior experience leading or coordinating a transportation planning or logistics operations team.
- Strong escalation management and operational decision-making skills.
- Ability to allocate workload, review team output, and manage shift performance.
- Strong communication skills for reporting operational status and material risks to senior stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience in transportation planning, logistics operations, or supply chain execution.
- Working knowledge of a Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Understanding of load planning, transport optimization, shipment planning, carrier tendering, and capacity management.
- Willingness to work permanently on the specified night/early-morning shift from the vendor workspace.

Preferred / Good To Have

- Experience with SAP TM/TMS.
- Experience with Blue Yonder.

Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have experience leading or coordinating transportation planning or logistics operations teams , along with hands-on knowledge of transportation planning and TMS processes. The candidate should be confident in managing escalations, making operational decisions, coordinating team workloads, and communicating risks and status to senior stakeholders.
