About Qismeet

Qismeet is an early-stage consumer dating app built around live music events. A working pilot is live, and we need an engineer to take it to the App Store and scale it.

The role

You'll be Qismeet's first engineer and own the product end to end: design, code, database, security, releases and uptime. There's no team to hand work to yet, so you'll make the technical calls and ship them yourself, working directly with the founder.

This role is the path to CTO. As Qismeet raises money and grows, you'll hire and lead the engineering team.

- Reports to: Talal Chaudhry, Founder
- Location: Fully remote from anywhere in India. Some overlap with Toronto (Eastern Time) is needed, including early-morning IST support on North American show nights.
- Type: Full-time, as a contractor or through an employer-of-record service

What you'll build

First 90 days: make the pilot solid and get on phones

- Review the pilot's code, database rules and security, and fix what won't hold up at scale.
- Ship the iOS app to TestFlight, then the App Store; Android to follow.
- Run the tech on live pilot show nights: monitor, fix fast, and learn from real use.
- Add bot protection on sign-up, private photo links, and phone sign-in with a text code.
- Set up backups, error tracking, analytics and a straightforward release process.

First year: build what makes Qismeet work at scale

- Show verification: location check-in (geofencing) at the venue,



and ticketing or venue integrations to replace access codes.
- Matching: better matching on music taste and intent, informed by listening data where members allow it.
- Trust and safety: selfie or ID verification, stronger reporting and moderation tools, and privacy compliance (PIPEDA, then US rules).
- Revenue: sponsored date spots, partner offers and real restaurant bookings.
- Scale: handle thousands of people joining the same show within minutes.
- Team: help hire the next engineers and set how we build.

Current stack The pilot runs on managed services, so there are no servers to babysit. You're free to change any of it if you can make the case.

What we're looking for

Must-haves

- A bachelor's or higher in Computer Science or a related field from an IIT or NIT.
- 5 years building and shipping software, including at least one consumer app you took to the App Store or Google Play yourself.
- Strong full-stack skills:



a mobile framework (React Native, Flutter or Swift), JavaScript or TypeScript, and a backend with Postgres.
- Security and privacy instincts: auth, database access rules, handling personal data and photos.
- Experience with realtime features such as chat, live updates or notifications.
- You've been the only or lead engineer before and made architecture calls without someone checking your work.
- You write clearly and can explain trade-offs to a non-technical founder.

Nice-to-haves

- Supabase or Firebase experience.
- Dating, social, events or ticketing apps.
- Geolocation, trust and safety, or identity verification.
- Startup experience from zero to first users.
- You love live music and concert culture.

How we work

We're a lean, fully remote founding team, and you can work from anywhere in India. You'll have real ownership, fast decisions and a founder who's in it every day. Expect some evening and weekend work around show nights, and a front-row view of how the product lands with real people.

Compensation

Salary: ₹[80,000]–₹[100,000] per year, plus founding equity. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
