Role Description This is a full-time, in office Medical Oncologist role based in Raipur at BALCO Medical Centre (A Unit of Vedanta Medical Research Foundation).

The Medical

Oncologist will evaluate and manage patients with various types and stages of cancer, including performing comprehensive clinical assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence-based treatment plans. Daily responsibilities include prescribing and monitoring chemotherapy and systemic therapies, coordinating with radiation oncologists and surgical specialists, and participating in multidisciplinary tumor boards. The role also involves providing ongoing follow-up care, managing treatment-related side effects, documenting patient care accurately, and contributing to clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and patient education.

Oncologist is expected to work collaboratively with the wider healthcare team to ensure safe, ethical, and compassionate care for all patients.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong clinical expertise in Medicine and Oncology, with the ability to manage a wide range of cancer cases.
- Candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of Cancer biology, staging, and evidence-based treatment guidelines.
- Candidates should possess skills in Radiation Therapy collaboration and treatment planning in coordination with radiation oncology teams.
- Candidates should possess proficiency in prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting Chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies.
- Postgraduate medical degree (MD/DNB or equivalent) in Medical Oncology or Internal Medicine with specialized oncology training.
- Valid medical license/registration as per applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong clinical decision-making, diagnostic, and critical thinking abilities.
- Effective communication skills for counseling patients and families with empathy and clarity.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating professionalism and ethical conduct.
- Experience in hospital-based oncology practice; involvement in clinical research or academic activities is an advantage.
- Commitment to continuous learning, adherence to clinical safety standards, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
