What You'll Do

- Lead an engineering team of seven to eight, covering both development and automation/QE roles
- Own backlog refinement for your team, and gatekeep Definition of Ready so work starts with enough clarity to finish
- Own mentoring, onboarding and career development across the team
- Lead recruitment for your own team — you will be hired ahead of your reports and will run their interview panels
- Participate in code review; you are expected to read your team’s code, not to deliver features in it
- Partner with your Staff Software Engineer, who holds technical direction and design authority
- Report delivery and quality status, and manage scope change with product management
- Build a current team from nothing — set working practices, not just fill seats

What You'll Bring:
- 3+ years managing software engineering teams, plus a prior engineering background
- Reading fluency in your team’s primary languages — Java and Shell for Trust & Platform; Java,



TypeScript and Robot Framework for Experience & Data
- Track record of hiring and onboarding engineers, including running technical interview panels
- Experience owning backlog refinement and Definition of Ready for a delivery team
- Comfort partnering with a senior individual contributor who holds technical authority
- Experience growing intermediate engineers into senior ones
- Demonstrated use of Spec-Driven Development (SDD) and AI-assisted development lifecycle (AI-DLC) practices, or a directly equivalent methodology
- Experience standing up a new team or site is beneficial
