Job Purpose To plan, monitor and optimize inventory across stores, warehouses and categories by ensuring the right product is available at the right location, in the right quantity and at the right time, while maintaining healthy inventory levels and minimizing stock-outs, overstock and ageing inventory.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Planning
- Prepare weekly, monthly and seasonal inventory plans based on sales trends, stock levels, business targets and category requirements.
- Analyse historical sales, current inventory, sales velocity and future demand.
- Prepare SKU/category/store-wise inventory requirements.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels and improve inventory turnover.
- Monitor stock cover, WOS, stock-to-sales ratio and inventory ageing.
1. Sales Forecasting & Demand Planning
- Prepare sales and inventory forecasts based on historical performance and market trends.
- Analyse fast-moving, slow-moving and non-moving products.
- Identify demand gaps and potential stock-out situations.
- Incorporate seasonality, promotions, festivals and new-store requirements into inventory planning.
- Review forecast versus actual sales and take corrective actions.
1. Store Allocation & Replenishment
- Prepare store-wise allocation plans based on sales potential, stock availability and store performance.
- Ensure timely replenishment of fast-moving products.
- Develop replenishment parameters for stores and categories.
- Coordinate stock transfers between stores/DC whenever required.
- Ensure optimum availability at high-performing stores.
1. Apparel Inventory Planning
- Plan inventory at style, SKU, colour and size level.
- Monitor size-wise availability and identify broken-size situations.
- Analyse sell-through by style/category.
- Plan seasonal merchandise and end-of-season inventory liquidation.
- Monitor ageing stock and recommend stock transfers, promotions or markdowns.
1. FMCG Inventory Planning
- Monitor SKU-wise sales, stock cover and replenishment requirements.
- Control overstock and expiry risk.
- Ensure appropriate application of FIFO/FEFO principles.
- Monitor near-expiry and ageing inventory.
- Coordinate with purchase and warehouse teams for timely replenishment.
1. Purchase & PO Coordination
- Analyse inventory requirements and provide inputs for PO creation.
- Monitor PO status against planned requirements.
- Track vendor order confirmation, dispatch and pending deliveries.
- Highlight supply delays that may impact store availability.
- Coordinate with Buying, Purchase, Vendors and Warehouse teams.
1. Warehouse & DC Coordination
- Monitor DC inventory against store requirements.
- Coordinate allocation and dispatch priorities.
- Identify excess stock at DC and opportunities for redistribution.
- Ensure inventory is available for planned store requirements.
- Coordinate with warehouse teams regarding pending dispatches.

Prepare and maintain regular:
- Daily Stock Report
- Sales vs Stock Report
- Store-wise Inventory Report
- SKU-wise Inventory Report
- Stock Cover / WOS Report
- Fast & Slow Moving Report
- Ageing Stock Report
- Sell-through Report
- Replenishment Report
- Allocation Report
- PO Pending Report
- Vendor Dispatch/Pending Report
- Stock Transfer Report
- Category Performance Report
- Sale Stock Requirement PO Vendor Status Dashboard
1. Cross-Functional Coordination

Required Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate in any discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, Retail Management, Operations or Merchandising preferred.
Experience:
- 815 years of relevant experience in Inventory Planning, Merchandise Planning, Allocation, Replenishment or Demand Planning.
- Strong experience in retail inventory management is preferred.
- Apparel and/or FMCG retail experience will be an advantage.

Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in multi-store retail inventory planning, with strong knowledge of sales forecasting, SKU/store-level allocation, replenishment, stock ageing, WOS, sell-through, inventory turnover and Excel-based MIS. Experience in Reliance Retail, Vishal Mega Mart, V-Mart, D-Mart or similar large-format retail organizations would be preferred.
