Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Data Security / Data Governance Engineer with 6+ years of overall IT experience and strong hands-on exposure to Varonis or a similar Data Security/Data Governance platform , combined with experience across Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows infrastructure, Active Directory, and enterprise data sources .

The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering and supporting data security and governance solutions, onboarding and scanning data sources, analyzing permissions, implementing data classification and remediation controls, and troubleshooting connectivity across on-premises and cloud environments.

Varonis experience is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with strong experience in Microsoft Purview/Microsoft Information Protection, BigID, Securiti, Netwrix, or similar platforms can also be considered, provided they have relevant infrastructure/platform experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer, configure, monitor, and support Varonis or equivalent Data Security/Data Governance platforms .
- Perform data-source onboarding, scanning, discovery, classification, permissions analysis, and remediation .
- Work with enterprise data repositories including:
- On-premises file servers
- Microsoft 365
- SharePoint
- OneDrive
- Exchange Online
- Azure Storage/Blob
- Azure SQL
- Databricks and other enterprise data platforms
- Analyze and remediate excessive permissions,



inappropriate access, exposed data, and link-sharing risks .
- Support data governance initiatives involving classification, retention, archival, lifecycle management, and access governance .
- Work extensively with the Microsoft ecosystem , including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Microsoft Purview/MIP, sensitivity labels, and retention policies.
- Support infrastructure components such as Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure resources, VMs, Azure Storage , and preferably AKS/Kubernetes .
- Troubleshoot connectivity between data security platforms and enterprise data sources, including networking, firewall, NSG, authentication, certificates, and credentials .
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for administration and automation.
- Work with REST APIs, webhooks, certificates, credentials, and third-party integrations .
- Monitor platform health, capacity, scanning performance, and operational status.
- Perform upgrades, patching, backup/restore, change management, and basic disaster recovery activities .
- Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, Cloud, Microsoft 365, and Data Governance teams.

Required Skills
- 6+ years of overall IT/infrastructure/security experience .




- Strong hands-on experience in Data Security, Data Governance, Data Protection, or Information Protection .
- Experience with Varonis is highly preferred.
- Experience with one or more alternative platforms is acceptable:
- Microsoft Purview / Microsoft Information Protection
- BigID
- Securiti
- Netwrix
- Similar Data Security/Data Governance platforms
- Strong exposure to Microsoft 365 and Azure .
- Hands-on knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory .
- Experience with SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online , and Microsoft security/governance capabilities.
- Understanding of data classification, sensitivity labels, retention, lifecycle, access management, and remediation .
- Experience troubleshooting enterprise data-source connectivity .
- Good understanding of networking, firewall, NSG, authentication, certificates, and credentials .
- Working knowledge of PowerShell and REST APIs .
- Strong troubleshooting and operational support skills.

- Experience with Varonis Data Security Platform / Data Classification Engine / DatAdvantage or related capabilities.
- Experience onboarding and scanning large-scale data repositories.
- Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL, Databricks exposure.

- Experience with data remediation and permissions cleanup .
- Experience with enterprise monitoring, capacity management, backup/restore, upgrades, and DR.
