Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Manager Pagination & Typesetting Operations to lead our high-performing composition and layout teams. In this leadership role, you will oversee end-to-end pagination workflows involving Adobe InDesign, TeX coding, and XML publishing pipelines, ensuring operational excellence, strict SLA adherence, and uncompromised quality standards. The ideal candidate combines deep technical mastery in typography, complex equation formatting, and table alignment with proven team leadership, strategic resource management, and continuous process improvement capabilities. Key Responsibilities

- Team Leadership & Operational Execution: Lead, direct,



and motivate pagination and typesetting teams across rotational shifts to achieve daily production targets and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Process Optimization & Innovation: Evaluate and enhance XML, TeX, and InDesign layout workflows to drive efficiency, automation, and continuous quality improvement.
- Technical Governance & Quality Assurance: Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, including intricate equation breaking, table alignment, and automated layout troubleshooting.
- Resource Management & Planning: Manage team capacity, shift rosters, and project allocations to handle fluctuating publishing volumes and tight deadlines effectively.
- Talent Development & Upskilling: Foster a learning culture by training, mentoring, and upskilling team members in advanced InDesign techniques, TeX coding, and pagination standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, HR/recruitment, client services, and editorial technology teams to streamline deliverables and implement cutting-edge tools.
- Performance & Change Management: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), conduct performance reviews, and drive team adaptability through operational transitions.

Required Qualifications & Skills Leadership & Operational Skills

- People & Team Management: Demonstrated 3+ years experience managing production teams in typesetting, publishing, or prepress operations.
- Operational Excellence: Strong track record of meeting production targets, driving operational KPIs, and managing shift workflows.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management:



Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively.
- Problem Solving & Decision Making: Proven ability to make critical decisions, address technical roadblocks, and implement creative operational solutions.
- Adaptability & Drive: High self-motivation, flexibility, and a proactive mindset toward leading through change and driving innovation.

Technical Mastery

- InDesign & Pagination Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Adobe InDesign software, automated templates, and pagination rules with overall 5+ years experience.
- XML & TeX Proficiency: Advanced understanding of XML-based publishing workflows and TeX coding logic.
- Typography & Layout Standards: Comprehensive knowledge of typography rules, composition standards, complex equation breaking, and advanced table alignment.
- Mathematical Aptitude: Solid mathematical background to oversee STM (Scientific, Technical, and Medical) and complex academic publishing projects.
