The VDI Engineer Associate supports the administration, monitoring, and operational support of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platforms, primarily Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365 Cloud PCs. This role focuses on daytoday execution, incident support, and maintenance of secure, scalable virtual desktop environments.

- The Associate works within established standards and under guidance from senior engineers while developing handson expertise in VDI platforms, Windows OS, and Azure services.

Responsibilities

- Support and administer Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), AVD Remote Apps and Windows 365 Cloud PC environments

- Managed, configured and optimized AVD environments using Nerdio Manager for Enterprise

- Perform routine VDI operational tasks including:

- User onboarding and offboarding

- Session host management

- Image creation, image updates and refresh cycles

- Monitor VDI platform health, performance, and availability

- Respond to VDI-related incidents, alerts, and service requests within defined SLAs

- Assist with troubleshooting:

- User connectivity issues

- Performance and latency problems

- Profile and session-related issues

- Support Active Directory / Entra ID / Entra Domain Services (EDC) integration for VDI environments

- Assist with FSLogix and OneDrive profile management and troubleshooting





- Follow security standards including access controls and endpoint protection

- Support patching and lifecycle management of VDI session hosts

- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and configuration records

- Collaborate with Cloud Platform, Network, and End User Computing teams

Skills

- Technical Skills

- Hands-on experience with Windows desktop single session and multi session and server operating systems

- Hands on experience supporting exposure to Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 Cloud PCs

- Understanding of:

- User profiles and session management

- Active Directory Entra ID and EDS

- Familiarity with Azure and AWS (compute, networking)

- Provide end user support and incident resolution for VDI related issues.

- Experience with Nerdio Manager for Enterprise

Education / Professional Experience/ Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

- 2–4 years of experience in VDI solution, desktop, EUC, or infrastructure support roles

- Azure Fundamentals or Microsoft desktop certifications preferred

- ITIL certification is a plus
