About the opportunity

We are hiring a Head – New Energies for a well-established, PE-backed renewable energy IPP with a strong operational track record and an ambitious growth agenda. The organisation is actively expanding beyond its core business into recent energy verticals, technologies, and adjacencies — and is looking for a senior leader to own this agenda end-to-end. The role reports directly into the CEO and offers a rare opportunity to shape the future energy portfolio of one of India's leading renewable platforms.

Key responsibilities

New energy evaluation & investment

- Evaluate investment opportunities across new and emerging clean energy technologies, business models, and adjacencies
- Assess opportunities across power generation, transmission, energy storage, green fuels, and other new energy verticals
- Build business cases, financial models, and investment frameworks to support Board and leadership decision-making
- Track global and domestic trends in energy transition, technology evolution, and competitive landscape

Market entry & business strategy

- Design market entry strategies for new energy verticals aligned with the organization's growth vision
- Develop detailed business plans covering market sizing, competitive dynamics, regulatory landscape, and commercialization pathways
- Assess build vs. buy vs. partner options for each new business opportunity




- Lead strategic assessments and feasibility studies for new technology adoption

Commercialization & business building

- Drive end-to-end commercialization of recent energy businesses — from concept through to execution
- Build operating models, revenue frameworks, and go-to-market strategies for new verticals
- Work closely with internal teams across finance, legal, project development, and operations to bring new businesses to life
- Manage external partnerships, JV structures, and technology collaborations where required

CEO & stakeholder partnering

- Serve as a close strategic partner to the CEO on the company's new energy and diversification agenda
- Present investment proposals, strategic assessments, and business plans to the Board and investors
- Coordinate with PE sponsors and external advisors on new energy strategy and capital allocation

Ideal candidate

- 12+ years of experience in renewable energy, power sector, investment, or strategy roles
- Strong background in evaluating investments, new business opportunities, or technologies in the energy or power sector — generation, transmission, storage, or adjacent areas
- Demonstrated ability to design market entry strategies, build business plans, and drive commercialization of new businesses
- Sharp financial and analytical skills — comfortable building investment models and business cases
