General Manager – Operations

Role Summary The General Manager – Operations will oversee end-to-end operational execution, including cell/pack manufacturing, plant maintenance, supply chain, warehousing, quality assurance, and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance. The ideal candidate will scale production capacity, optimize yields, ensure rigorous safety compliance, and drive continuous improvement across all battery manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Operations & Production Management

- Strategic planning and execution of daily production targets for Li-ion cell and battery pack assembly lines.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), scrap rates, cycle times, and yield optimization.
- Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all manufacturing workflows.

2. Supply Chain, Logistics & Inventory

- Oversee raw material sourcing for battery assembly unit and finished goods inventory.
- Coordinate cold-chain/hazard-sensitive transportation, hazardous material handling, and logistics for Li-ion battery components.
- Minimize lead times, inventory holding costs, and material waste through data-backed inventory planning.

3. Quality Assurance & EHS Compliance

- Maintain international standards for battery manufacturing (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45000).
- Enforce electrical, and thermal safety protocols to prevent operational hazards (thermal runaway, fire hazards).
- Oversee scrap management, hazardous waste disposal, and battery recycling operations.

Operational Excellence & Process Optimization

- Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives on the shop floor.
- Drive digitisation, automation, MES (Manufacturing Execution System), and ERP integrations for real-time operational tracking.
- Lower cost-per-kWh through yield improvement, scrap reduction, and energy efficiency.

5. Leadership & Team Management

- Lead, mentor, and build cross-functional teams spanning Production, Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, and Quality Control.
- Establish resource allocation, shift planning, workforce optimization, and skill development programs.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Production Engineering.
- Experience: 20+ years in core manufacturing operations, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role within the Lithium-ion battery, EV, semiconductor, or allied high-tech electronics manufacturing industries.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of cell assembly processes and battery pack assembly/BMS integration.

- Operational Leadership: Proven track record of scaling high-volume, automated production lines.
- EHS First Mindset: Deep understanding of hazardous management and high-voltage electrical safety.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in shop-floor data analytics, ERP, MES, and predictive maintenance frameworks.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience dealing with OEMs, battery suppliers, regulatory agencies, and technology partners.
