Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused GM Accounts & Finance to lead the company's finance, accounting, taxation, compliance, audit, and financial planning functions. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Chartered Accountant with at least six years of relevant experience in the real estate industry and solid hands-on expertise in statutory filings, internal controls, audits, banking relationships, taxation, and stakeholder management.
The GM A&F; will work closely with the leadership team to support strategic decision-making, maintain financial discipline, strengthen governance, and ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement the company's financial strategy in alignment with its business and growth objectives.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and long-term financial planning.
- Provide timely financial analysis and commercial insights to the management team.
- Evaluate the financial viability of real estate projects, including project costs, profitability, funding requirements, and return on investment.
- Monitor project-wise budgets, collections, receivables, payables, and fund utilisation.
- Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Oversee the complete accounting function and ensure accurate maintenance of books of accounts.
- Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain project-wise accounts, cost records, management information systems, and financial dashboards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
- Review bank reconciliations, vendor payments, customer receipts, general ledgers, and financial closures.
- Present accurate financial reports to the Board and senior management.
Taxation, Compliance and Filings
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all statutory, tax, and regulatory filings.
- Oversee compliance relating to direct tax, GST, TDS, corporate law, RERA, and other applicable regulations.
- Manage tax assessments, notices, appeals, reconciliations, and interactions with tax authorities.
- Maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar and ensure that all deadlines are met.
- Monitor changes in tax, accounting, financial, and real estate regulations and assess their impact on the business.
- Coordinate with legal and secretarial teams on corporate and regulatory compliance matters.
Audit and Internal Controls
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls, financial policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Lead internal, statutory, tax, and other regulatory audits.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors and ensure the timely closure of audit observations.
- Strengthen controls relating to procurement, payments, collections, contracts, project expenditure, and revenue recognition.
- Prevent financial irregularities through regular reviews, risk assessments, and control testing.
- Ensure proper maintenance and availability of financial records and supporting documentation.
Banking, Funding and Treasury
- Build and manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, lenders, investors, and other funding partners.
- Arrange project finance, working capital, term loans, and other credit facilities.
- Lead funding proposals, lender presentations, financial due diligence, and loan documentation.
- Monitor borrowing costs, debt obligations, covenants, repayments, and utilisation of funds.
- Manage liquidity, working capital, cash flows, and treasury operations.
- Negotiate competitive terms with banks and financial institutions.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the principal finance contact for banks, tax authorities, external auditors, financial institutions, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
- Support the Board, investors, and senior management with accurate financial information and recommendations.
- Coordinate with project, sales, procurement, legal, operations, and administration teams.
- Represent the company during assessments, audits, lender reviews, and regulatory discussions.
- Communicate complex financial matters clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounts team.
- Define clear responsibilities, performance standards, and review mechanisms.
- Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Implement appropriate financial systems and automation to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) from a reputed institution. ( Plus MBA will be an added advantage)
- Minimum 6 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in a senior finance role within the real estate industry.
- Strong hands-on experience in taxation, statutory compliance, regulatory filings, auditing, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience dealing with banks, tax authorities, external auditors, lenders, and financial institutions.
- Sound knowledge of real estate accounting, project finance, cost control, cash-flow management, and revenue recognition.
- Working knowledge of RERA, GST, TDS, income tax, corporate law, and applicable accounting standards.
- Experience in arranging and managing project finance, working capital, and other funding facilities.
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting software, advanced Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.
