Role overview

We are looking for a Functional Architect with deep domain command of the education technology ecosystem to own the functional design of a large learning platform programme. The role sits between client business stakeholders and the engineering team, and is accountable for process design, functional blueprints, and solution fit.

Key responsibilities

- Own the functional architecture and process blueprint for the ed-tech platform — learner, faculty, institution, and administrator journeys.
- Run discovery and requirement-elicitation workshops with client business teams; convert outcomes into functional specifications, process maps, and user stories.
- Map current-state processes, identify gaps, and design target-state operating processes with clear change impact.
- Define the functional ecosystem view: LMS, SIS/ERP, assessment and proctoring, content management, certification, analytics, and their integration touchpoints.
- Partner with the Technical Architect to ensure functional design is technically coherent and delivery-feasible.
- Own functional governance across the programme — traceability, change control, sign-offs, and UAT strategy.
- Advise on regulatory, accreditation, and policy requirements applicable to the education sector.
- Support pre-sales and solutioning inputs, effort sizing, and stakeholder presentations where required.

Must-have skills





- 10+ years of experience, with substantial time in education technology, higher education, skilling, or EdTech product/consulting environments.
- Demonstrated functional ownership of at least one large learning or education platform implementation.
- Solid working knowledge of the ed-tech stack: LMS platforms (Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard or equivalent), student information systems, assessment engines, content and learning standards (SCORM, xAPI, LTI, QTI).
- Business process design and re-engineering capability — process mapping, SOP definition, operating model design.
- Excellent requirement documentation: BRD/FRD, functional specs, process flows, wireframe-level articulation.
- Confident stakeholder management with senior client and institutional stakeholders.

Good to have

- Consulting, Big 4, or advisory background.
- Exposure to government or public-sector education programmes, NEP-aligned initiatives, or accreditation frameworks.
- Certification in business analysis or process (CBAP, Lean Six Sigma, TOGAF).
- Familiarity with learning analytics and AI-enabled personalisation in education.

Qualification: Graduate/postgraduate in a relevant discipline; MBA or education-domain postgraduate qualification an advantage.
