About the role

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team at Alaan, with a strong focus on backend development. You’ll work alongside our engineers to build and improve production features across our platform, primarily using Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript, while also getting exposure to frontend development using React.js and Next.js.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll learn how real-world products are designed, built, shipped, and maintained in a fast-moving startup environment.

What you'll do

- Backend Development: Build and improve backend services and application logic using Node.js, Express.js, and NestJS.
- API Development: Develop and integrate RESTful APIs connecting different parts of our platform.
- Database Management: Work with relational databases, SQL queries, schemas, and data models.
- Frontend Development: Contribute to frontend features using React.js and Next.js when required.
- Debugging & Problem Solving: Investigate bugs, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to improving application reliability.
- Code Quality: Write clean and maintainable code while learning engineering best practices through code reviews.
- Product Development: Collaborate with engineers, Product Managers, and other team members to take features from requirements to production.
- Learning & Ownership:



Take ownership of smaller features and gradually work on more complex engineering problems as you grow.

What we are looking for

- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Good understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and programming fundamentals.
- Hands-on exposure to Node.js through internships, projects, coursework, or personal development.
- Familiarity with Node.js frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
- Basic understanding of REST APIs and backend application development.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Some exposure to React.js and/or Next.js for frontend development.
- Familiarity with Git and version control.
- Robust problem-solving fundamentals and willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, asking questions, receiving feedback, and taking ownership.
- Previous internships, meaningful personal projects, open-source contributions, or experience building and deploying applications would be a strong plus.
