Position Overview

As an Assistant Manager within the Global Markets IT Clearing LD Stream, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and optimization of software solutions for BNP Paribas' Global Markets business. Embedded in a globally distributed team, you will contribute to building robust, scalable, and secure applications that support complex capital markets operations. This role is ideal for a technical leader capable of bridging the gap between high-level architectural vision and hands-on full-stack development, with a specific focus on modernizing legacy systems and leveraging cutting-edge technologies like Gen AI.

Job Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

- Design & Optimization: Review current project designs to identify drawbacks; propose scalable, high-performance architectures and modularize applications to improve flexibility.
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with global stakeholders to align technical roadmaps with business vision and project goals.
- Modernization: Lead application modernization efforts by conducting gap analyses and architecting transition plans to bring systems up to current technical standards.
- Standard Setting: Establish and enforce coding best practices, conduct peer code reviews, and define technical standards for the team.
- Mentorship: Act as a technical mentor for junior team members, providing guidance on complex problem-solving and new technology adoption.

Development & Execution

- Full-Stack Development: Deliver end-to-end solutions across the stack, including UI (Angular), Middleware/APIs, and Backend services (Java/SQL).
- Event-Driven Engineering: Build and optimize Kafka-based,



event-driven architectures to ensure seamless data flow.
- SDLC Optimization: Integrate Gen AI tools into the Software Development Life Cycle to optimize processes from design through to rollout.
- Quality Assurance: Implement high-quality engineering practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), performance benchmarking, and proactive monitoring using tools like Dynatrace.
- Agile Delivery: Work within geographically distributed Agile Scrum teams to deliver features from scratch and ensure alignment with functional needs.

Required Skills and Experience

Technical Expertise

- Backend: Extensive experience with Java (version 1.8 or above) and core frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
- Frontend: Proficiency in Angular (version 14 or above).
- Database: Strong skills in SQL and Oracle Stored Procedures.
- Architecture: Deep understanding of Design Patterns, Design Principles, and Architectural Paradigms (e.g., Domain-Driven Design (DDD), API-First, and Data-Driven approaches).
- Integration: Proven experience with Event-Driven Architecture and integration patterns.

Professional Experience & Behavioral Skills

- Experience: Minimum of 6.5 years of relevant professional experience in software engineering.
- Education:



Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- Methodologies: Strong command of Agile methodologies (Scrum, XP, TDD).
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, robust analytical ability, and a proactive, self-motivated approach to problem-solving within a team environment.

Good to Have Skills and Experience

- Domain Knowledge: Prior experience in Capital Markets or Financial Services IT.
- Middleware & Messaging: Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or Apache Camel.
- DevSecOps: Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and tools such as BitBucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Fortify, NexusIQ, SONAR, and Ansible.
- Performance Tuning: Experience in application and database performance optimization.
