Role Description The Freelance Writer will work on a part time, remote basis to develop clear, engaging written content that supports the university’s educational, research, and outreach initiatives. Day-to-day tasks may include drafting articles, blog posts, web pages, and informational materials about academic programs, research projects, events, and extension activities. The role involves collaborating with faculty and staff to gather information, conducting background research, and adapting complex agricultural and academic concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences.

Writer will also revise and proofread content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with the university’s tone and standards, and may assist in preparing content for digital platforms and promotional materials.

Qualifications

- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce explicit, concise, and grammatically accurate content for academic and public audiences.
- Experience with web and digital content,



including structuring articles or pages for online reading and basic familiarity with content management or publishing tools.
- Ability to conduct independent research, synthesize information from multiple sources, and accurately represent technical or scientific topics.
- Attention to detail in proofreading, fact-checking, and maintaining consistency in style, tone, and formatting.
- Background or strong interest in agriculture, environmental sciences, higher education, or related fields is highly beneficial.
- Excellent written communication skills in English and the ability to meet deadlines while working remotely and independently.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Agricultural Sciences, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Prior experience in freelance or remote writing roles, particularly for educational institutions or research organizations, is an advantage.
