About Our Client The client is a technology-focused organisation developing advanced embedded and digital electronic solutions for space and defence programmes. Its engineering environment is multidisciplinary and multinational, with work spanning FPGA IP, ASICs, SoCs, embedded software and high-reliability digital systems

- Design and develop digital hardware and FPGA IP cores, ASICs and SoC solutions for space and defence programmes.

- Define digital architectures, conduct feasibility studies and evaluate technical design trade-offs.

- Perform RTL front-end design and verification, from requirements capture through sign-off.

- Model and simulate complete solutions to optimise digital circuit performance.

- Plan and execute FPGA prototype verification, testing and debugging activities.

- Contribute to digital subsystem specifications, design reviews and IC/IP bring-up and qualification.

- Define firmware/software architecture for FPGA-based SoCs and coordinate hardware/software integration.

- Produce comprehensive technical documentation and support engineering decisions using quantitative analysis





The Successful Applicant

- Experience: Minimum 5 years in digital hardware/FPGA design, ideally within space, aerospace, defence or another high-reliability sector.

- Education: Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or Physics; Master's or PhD is advantageous.

- HDL: Robust VHDL and/or Verilog front-end design expertise.

- FPGA & verification tools: Hands-on experience with Xilinx Vivado, HDL Author or equivalent, plus simulation/verification tools such as ModelSim or Questa.

- Verification: Testbenches, functional coverage and regression testing, with experience producing FPGA specifications and test plans.

- Additional advantages: ASIC design, MATLAB, cryptography/hardware security, CI/CD and automated HIL testing, Synopsys/Cadence, C/assembly, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, SpaceWire, radiation mitigation and ECSS/MIL-STD knowledge.
