Purpose/Objective To ensure effective implementation of fire prevention, fire protection, emergency response, and occupational safety systems at the thermal power plant.

The role is responsible for maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, minimizing fire and safety risks, conducting audits and training, and ensuring preparedness for emergency situations across plant operations.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Fire Protection & Emergency Management - Ensure availability, reliability, and operational readiness of all fire protection systems and firefighting equipment.

- Monitor maintenance and testing of hydrant systems, fire pumps, sprinklers, detectors, fire alarm systems, and extinguishers.
- Lead emergency response during fire incidents and coordinate with internal and external emergency agencies.
- Conduct mock drills and evaluate emergency preparedness across departments.
- Develop and review site emergency response plans and fire protection procedures. Safety Management - Implement and monitor safety standards, procedures, and permit-to-work systems.

- Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessment activities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and company EHS requirements.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance during outages and maintenance activities.

- Drive safety initiatives aimed at achieving zero accidents and incidents. Compliance & Audit - Ensure compliance with Factories Act, National Building Code (NBC),



Fire Safety Standards, and other applicable statutory requirements.

- Conduct internal EHS audits and support external regulatory inspections.
- Maintain records related to fire incidents, safety observations, audits, and corrective actions.
- Track closure of safety observations and audit findings. Training & Awareness - Conduct safety induction and firefighting training programs for employees and contractors.

- Promote safety awareness through campaigns, toolbox talks, and behavioral safety initiatives.
- Develop competency-building programs related to emergency response and firefighting operations. Incident Investigation - Investigate fire incidents, near misses, and safety violations.

- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare incident reports and present findings to management.

Qualifications and Experience

- B. E.

/B.

Tech in Fire Engineering / Fire & Safety Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering.

- Diploma in Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety Management will be preferred.
- 6-10 years of relevant experience in Fire & Safety within Thermal Power Plants, Power Projects, Heavy Engineering, Process Industries, Steel, Cement, Oil & Gas, or similar large industrial environments.
