- Operate control panels and automated systems to regulate the flow and pressure of water, gas, or electricity through distribution lines.
- Conduct standardized laboratory tests on samples, such as water quality checks, to ensure compliance with health and environmental standards.
- Adjust chemical dosages and pumping rates in treatment facilities based on readings from meters, gauges, and control system data.
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all operational activities, equipment performance, and maintenance tasks performed during a shift.
- Perform fabrication and repair of piping, valves, and other mechanical systems to keep treatment and distribution facilities operational.
- Operate heavy machinery, such as loaders and vacuum trucks,
to assist in the maintenance and repair of utility infrastructure.
- Respond to emergency situations, like line breaks or equipment failures, to minimize service disruptions and execute necessary repairs.
- Perform grounds maintenance activities, including mowing and painting.
