This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager based in India.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and grow a diverse engineering team responsible for a highly used digital intake and forms experience.

You will combine people leadership with strong technical judgment across backend architecture, system design, reliability, and delivery.

The role has ownership of the team roadmap, prioritization, project execution, and long-term technical health.

You will work closely with Product, Design, and engineering leadership to translate customer and business needs into scalable solutions.

Operational excellence is a key focus, with responsibility for reliability, availability, performance, incident response, and continuous improvement.

You will also help explore how AI-powered capabilities can make digital intake experiences smarter and more effective.

Accountabilities:

- Lead, coach, and develop engineers across different experience levels, fostering technical excellence, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Own roadmap creation and prioritization in partnership with Product and Design, translating customer and business needs into a transparent and sequenced delivery plan.
- Drive predictable project delivery from scoping through launch while balancing quality, speed, technical debt, and long-term maintainability.
- Provide technical guidance on backend architecture and system design, helping the team make sound decisions for highly available and high-scale systems.
- Champion operational excellence by improving system reliability, availability, and performance, while leading incident response and post-incident learning.

- Build and evolve team structures, processes, planning cadences, on-call practices, and delivery methodologies to support team growth and business needs.
- Partner with engineering and product leadership to identify and shape opportunities for AI-powered capabilities within the forms and intake experience.




- Participate in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding to build a high-performing and diverse engineering team.

- Provide career development planning, regular feedback, mentorship, and performance management for direct reports.
- Foster an inclusive team environment that recognizes individual strengths and supports engagement and professional development.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to ensure solutions are effectively integrated across the broader platform.

- Communicate roadmap progress, delivery status, risks, dependencies, and technical tradeoffs clearly to engineering and business leadership.

Requirements:

- Strong technical background in backend development, architecture, and system design, with hands-on expertise in Java preferred.
- 2–3+ years of experience managing medium-sized engineering teams and coaching engineers across early-career through senior levels.

- Proven experience with successful project delivery, roadmap creation, prioritization, and team or process development.
- Strong track record of driving operational excellence and improving the reliability, availability, and performance of production systems.
- Ability to make sound technical decisions and provide effective guidance on backend architecture and long-term system design.

- Experience working effectively in fast-paced, dynamic, and growth-oriented environments where priorities may evolve.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, risks, and tradeoffs in terms of business impact.
- Strong people-management, mentoring, coaching, and performance-management capabilities.





- Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Design, Engineering, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ownership, adaptability, problem-solving ability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience building or leading AI-powered product features is a plus.
