Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer – Substation & Transmission

Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. (Electrical Engineering)

About the Role

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to handle design and engineering of substations, switchyards, transmission lines, and LT/HT distribution systems for industrial/utility projects.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare design and engineering drawings for substations and switchyards (up to EHV levels as applicable)

Design transmission lines including tower spotting, sag-tension calculations, and route surveys

Design LT and HT distribution systems, including cable sizing, protection coordination, and layout drawings

Prepare single line diagrams (SLDs), general arrangement (GA) drawings, and equipment layouts

Perform load flow, short circuit, and relay coordination studies

Select and size equipment: transformers, switchgear, cables, protection relays, earthing systems





Coordinate with clients, statutory authorities, and vendors for design approvals

Ensure compliance with IS/IEC standards, CEA regulations, and utility norms

Support tendering, BOQ preparation, and technical specifications

Liaise with site/execution teams during construction and commissioning

Required Skills

Hands-on design experience in substation/switchyard engineering (33kV–220kV or as relevant)

Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with ETAP/PLS-CADD or similar design software preferred

Solid understanding of IS, IEC, and CEA standards

Knowledge of earthing/grounding design, protection systems, and cable sizing

Good communication and coordination skills

Preferred

Experience with statutory approvals (CEIG, utility liaison)

Exposure to industrial or mining/power sector projects
