Position Summary The E&I; Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for end-to-end quality assurance of critical Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I;) bought-out equipment. The role ensures that supplied equipment meets customer requirements, approved engineering documents, purchase-order specifications, inspection and test plans, applicable standards, and statutory requirements before final release.

Key Responsibilities

- Own quality activities for critical E&I; bought-out items, including:

- Electric motors

- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

- Motor Monitoring Systems (MMS)

- Transformers

- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

- Unit Control Panels (UCPs)

- Other electrical, instrumentation, control, and protection panels

- Perform supplier source inspections and incoming inspections in line with:

- Customer specifications

- Approved drawings and datasheets

- Purchase-order requirements

- Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)

- Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs)

- Applicable IEC, ISO, customer, and project-specific standards

- Review and witness routine tests, type tests, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), ensuring:

- Approved test procedures are followed

- Test instruments are calibrated and traceable

- Test results comply with specification and standard requirements

- Test reports are complete, accurate, and approved before release

- Apply IEC 60034 series requirements for electrical rotating machines and motors, including motor performance, efficiency, temperature rise, insulation, vibration, noise, routine testing, and certification requirements.

- Verify compliance of Ex equipment with IEC 60079 series requirements, hazardous-area classifications, Ex marking, protection concepts, equipment certification, and validity of Ex certificates.

- Coordinate supplier inspections,



third-party inspection agency (TPI) activities, customer inspections, and internal quality requirements to meet project schedules and inspection hold points.

- Review supplier quality documentation, including:

- Approved drawings and datasheets

- Material and component certificates

- ITPs, QAPs, and manufacturing schedules

- Routine and type test reports

- FAT reports

- Calibration certificates

- Ex certificates and compliance documents

- Final manufacturing and quality dossiers

- Maintain complete traceability of equipment, components, inspection status, test records, deviations, and release documentation throughout the supply cycle.

- Identify nonconformities and raise NCRs where equipment, documents, or test results do not meet requirements.

- Coordinate with suppliers for root-cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive action (CAPA), corrective action implementation, and closure verification of NCRs.

- Handle customer quality queries, complaints, deviations, and NCRs associated with E&I; bought-out items, providing timely and technically sound responses.

- Conduct supplier quality audits, vendor visits, surveillance inspections, and remote inspections as required by the project or quality plan.

- Support the final inspection team by reviewing E&I; quality dossiers, ensuring documentation completeness, closing inspection punch points, and supporting Inspection Release Note (IRN) issuance.

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.

- Experience in supplier quality, quality control, inspection, testing, or project quality for electrical and instrumentation equipment.

- Strong exposure to motors, VFDs, transformers, PLCs, switchgear, control panels, and hazardous-area equipment.

- Strong Knowledge about product certification like ATEX, Compex etc.

- Knowledge of IEC 60034 and IEC 60079 series standards.

- Experience in reviewing engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, datasheets, ITPs, QAPs, test procedures, and supplier documentation.





- Knowledge of FAT, routine testing, type testing, inspection release processes, and quality dossier compilation.

- Strong understanding of NCR, RCA, CAPA, deviation control, and supplier corrective-action follow-up.

- Ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers, customers, TPIs, engineering, procurement, project management, and final inspection teams.

- Solid technical judgment in E&I; equipment inspection and compliance verification

- Attention to detail and documentation discipline

- Knowledge of hazardous-area and Ex compliance requirements

- Supplier quality management and problem-solving capability

- Clear communication with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

- Ability to manage multiple inspections and project priorities under schedule pressure
