- Job Summary

Devanika Hospital & Research Center is looking for a skilled and responsible Dresser to provide assistance in patient care across the General Ward, Operation Theatre (OT) and Emergency Department.

The candidate will be responsible for assisting doctors and nursing staff in wound care, dressing procedures, preparation of patients and clinical areas, handling dressing materials, maintaining infection-control standards and providing timely support during emergency and OT procedures.

- Key ResponsibilitiesA. General Ward

- Perform routine wound dressing and re-dressing as instructed by the doctor/nursing staff.
- Assist doctors and nurses during minor procedures and bedside interventions.
- Prepare dressing trays, instruments, gauze, bandages and other required materials.
- Assist in wound cleaning, application of prescribed medications and bandaging.
- Observe the patient's condition during dressing procedures and immediately report any abnormal findings to the nursing staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper arrangement of dressing materials and equipment.
- Assist in shifting and positioning patients safely during procedures.
- Support nursing staff in routine patient-care activities within the scope of assigned duties.

B. Operation Theatre (OT)
- Assist in preparing the OT and required dressing/procedure materials.
- Ensure availability of sterile dressing sets, gauze, bandages, sutures and other consumables as instructed.
- Assist OT staff and doctors during surgical procedures as assigned.
- Assist with patient positioning and preparation under the direction of the OT/nursing team.
- Follow strict sterilization, aseptic technique and infection-control protocols.
- Handle and dispose of used dressing materials and biomedical waste according to hospital protocols.




- Assist in cleaning and maintaining dressing-related instruments and equipment as per instructions.
- Ensure adequate stock of commonly used dressing materials and inform the concerned staff about shortages.

C. Emergency Department
- Provide prompt assistance during emergency wound care and dressing procedures.
- Assist doctors and nurses in managing trauma, wounds, cuts, burns and other injuries as directed.
- Prepare emergency dressing materials and procedure trays without delay.
- Assist in controlling bleeding through appropriate support measures as directed by qualified clinical staff.
- Help in patient positioning and preparation for emergency procedures.
- Assist in shifting patients safely for investigations, procedures or admission when required.
- Maintain readiness of emergency dressing supplies and equipment.

3. Infection Control & Patient Safety
- Strictly follow hospital infection-control policies.
- Maintain proper hand hygiene and use appropriate PPE.
- Follow aseptic techniques during wound dressing and procedures.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of biomedical waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of dressing areas and equipment.
- Take appropriate precautions to prevent cross-infection.
- Immediately report incidents, injuries, contamination or other safety concerns to the concerned nursing/clinical supervisor.

4. Documentation & Stock Management
- Maintain records of dressing procedures and materials used as required by the hospital.
- Assist in maintaining adequate stock of gauze, cotton, bandages, antiseptic solutions, dressings and other consumables.
- Check dressing supplies regularly and report shortages or damaged/expired materials.
- Maintain proper organization of dressing rooms, procedure areas and assigned equipment.




- Assist with documentation related to procedures as directed by the nursing or clinical team.

5. Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of wound dressing and patient-care procedures.
- Knowledge of commonly used dressing materials and instruments.
- Understanding of basic infection-control and sterilization practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in emergency situations.
- Ability to assist during OT procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and capable of working in a hospital environment.
- Responsible, disciplined and patient-friendly approach.
- Ability to follow instructions from doctors, nurses and authorized supervisors.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays as per duty roster.

6. Educational Qualification

Minimum Qualification:

- 10 2 / equivalent qualification.

Preferred:

- Dresser / Nursing Assistant / Healthcare-related certificate or training.
- Relevant clinical or hospital-based training.

7. Experience
- 1–3 years of relevant hospital experience preferred.
- Experience in General Ward, OT, Emergency, Trauma or Dressing Room will be an advantage.
- Freshers with relevant training and positive practical knowledge may also be considered.

- Professional coordination with doctors, nurses and other hospital staff.

9. Reporting & Work Allocation

Reporting To: Nursing In-Charge / OT In-Charge / Emergency In-Charge / Authorized Clinical Supervisor The Dresser may be assigned duties across the General Ward, Operation Theatre and Emergency Department according to hospital requirements and duty roster.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
