Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Development Lead Mainframe to Cloud Modernization to lead application development and modernization activities for a large-scale enterprise transformation program.

The successful candidate will provide strong technical leadership across application development, legacy modernization, technical issue resolution, integration, performance, and production readiness. The role involves working with large, distributed development teams, including offshore teams, and requires strong ownership of delivery, technical quality, and program milestones.

Key Responsibilities





- Lead end-to-end application development activities for a large-scale Mainframe-to-Cloud modernization program.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and resolve complex development, performance, memory, stability, and integration issues.
- Drive modernization of legacy/mainframe applications toward modern, scalable, cloud-based architectures.
- Manage development priorities, technical dependencies, resource allocation, and delivery against program milestones.
- Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) and ensure timely resolution of critical application defects and production issues.
- Establish and enforce development standards, coding best practices, code reviews, unit testing, and quality processes.
- Drive adoption of CI/CD and DevOps practices across development teams.
- Work closely with Solution/Technical Architects, QA, Infrastructure, DevOps, Business, and Product teams to ensure seamless application delivery.
- Lead and coordinate large, distributed development teams, including offshore development teams, ensuring clear ownership and accountability.
- Monitor development progress, productivity, staffing, technical risks, dependencies, and delivery commitments.
- Proactively identify and remove technical and delivery blockers.
- Support release planning, deployment readiness, production readiness, and technical handover.
- Provide clear and concise technical status updates, risks, dependencies, issues, and escalations to program leadership.
- Ensure applications meet required standards for performance, scalability, stability, security, and maintainability.




- Participate in technical discussions, architecture reviews, design decisions, and modernization strategy initiatives.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

- 10+ years of strong application development experience in large and complex enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on programming experience in C/C++.
- Strong experience with modern cloud-based application development.
- Proven experience in Mainframe-to-Cloud modernization / Legacy Application Modernization.
- Strong troubleshooting experience involving:
- Performance issues
- Memory-related issues
- Application stability
- Integration issues
- Complex application defects
- Production incidents

- Experience working with cloud platforms, distributed applications, APIs, and databases.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and modern software development methodologies.
- Proven experience leading large development teams, including offshore/distributed teams.
- Strong understanding of application architecture, technical dependencies, enterprise integration, and distributed systems.
- Experience managing technical priorities and delivering applications within aggressive timelines.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure delivery setting with end-to-end ownership.

Preferred / Good to Have

- Experience in airline, transportation, banking, financial services, or other large-scale transaction processing environments.
- Experience working on high-volume, highly available enterprise applications.
- Experience with large-scale cloud transformation and application re-platforming/re-engineering initiatives.
- Experience working in globally distributed development and delivery environments.
