Senior Engineer CNC Machine Design

Job Overview The Senior Design Engineer leads the mechanical design and development of complex CNC machinery (including VTL, HMC, SPMs, milling heads, spindles, and structural components). This role drives design reviews, validation, DFMEA, and cross-functional coordination with production and vendors while mentoring junior engineering staff.

Key Responsibilities

- Design complex CNC machine assemblies including bed, column, saddle, ram, spindle units, and tool changers.
- Lead design reviews, perform DFMEA, and conduct thorough design validation.
- Apply advanced GD&T;, tolerance stack-up analysis, material selection, and manufacturing process standards.
- Coordinate directly with production, machining, assembly, and external vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Perform basic structural analysis (FEA)



and integrate hydraulic and pneumatic systems into machine designs.
- Guide and mentor junior designers, reviewing and approving technical drawings.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 6–8 years of experience in machine tool design.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor) and 2D drafting tools.
- Technical Expertise: CNC machine design (VTL, HMC, SPMs, milling heads, spindles, structures), hydraulics, pneumatics, and FEA basics.
- Competencies: Solid problem-solving, project management, and leadership capabilities.
