About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic, highly driven and execution-oriented Deputy Head – STEM to support the leadership and growth of the organisation's central STEM function.

The role will work closely with the Head – STEM to conceptualise, develop, implement and continuously improve STEM education programmes across the school network. The individual will be responsible for translating the organisation's STEM vision into effective academic programmes, teacher capability-building, student experiences and scalable school-level implementation.

This is a strategic + operational leadership role requiring strong understanding of STEM education along with the ability to manage people, projects, curriculum, stakeholders and large-scale implementation.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable moving between strategy, curriculum design, technology, teacher training, school implementation, innovation and execution.

Key Responsibilities1. STEM Strategy & Academic Leadership

● Support the Head – STEM in developing and executing the organisation's overall STEM vision, strategy and roadmap.

● Contribute to the development of innovative, future-ready STEM programmes aligned with emerging technologies and educational trends.

● Drive academic quality and consistency of STEM programmes across schools.

● Identify opportunities to introduce new STEM initiatives, programmes, competitions, projects and learning experiences.

● Ensure STEM programmes are designed around hands-on learning, problem-solving, design thinking, experimentation and real-world application.

2. Curriculum & Programme Development

● Lead the development, review and enhancement of STEM curriculum and learning resources.

● Develop age-appropriate learning journeys, projects, activities, assessments and teacher resources.

● Work across domains such as:

○ Coding & Computational Thinking

○ Robotics

○ Science & Mathematics

○ Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies

○ Product Design & Maker Education

○ Electronics & IoT

○ Horticulture / Sustainability

○ Financial & Digital Literacy

○ Innovation & Design Thinking

● Ensure curriculum is scalable and can be effectively implemented across multiple schools.

● Establish academic standards, learning outcomes and quality benchmarks for STEM programmes.

3. Teacher Development & Training

● Design and conduct high-quality STEM teacher training programmes.

● Build teacher capability in technology, pedagogy, project-based learning and hands-on STEM education.

● Develop training frameworks, certification pathways and continuous professional development programmes.

● Mentor STEM teachers and academic teams.

● Evaluate teacher competency and identify areas for improvement.

4. School-Level Implementation

● Support schools in implementing central STEM programmes effectively.

● Work closely with school leadership and STEM coordinators to ensure programme adoption and execution.

● Monitor implementation quality, classroom practices and student engagement.

● Identify implementation challenges and provide practical solutions.

● Develop systems, SOPs and frameworks to ensure consistency across schools.

5. Team Leadership & People Management

● Lead and mentor members of the central STEM team.





● Allocate projects and responsibilities based on individual strengths and organisational priorities.

● Establish clear goals, timelines and performance expectations.

● Conduct regular reviews and provide constructive feedback.

● Build a culture of ownership, innovation, experimentation and continuous improvement.

● Support recruitment and onboarding of STEM team members when required.

6. STEM Labs, Technology & Resources

● Support the planning and development of STEM labs, robotics labs, maker spaces and innovation spaces.

● Define equipment, technology and resource requirements for STEM programmes.

● Evaluate STEM kits, hardware, software and educational technology solutions.

● Ensure resources are practical, scalable, cost-effective and aligned with curriculum requirements.

● Work with relevant teams to improve lab utilisation, maintenance and inventory systems.

7. Innovation, Competitions & Events

● Lead and support participation in STEM competitions, hackathons, robotics events, exhibitions and innovation challenges.

● Develop internal STEM competitions and student innovation programmes.

● Mentor teams participating in major competitions.

● Identify external partnerships, competitions and opportunities that can enhance student exposure.

● Support large-scale STEM events, showcases and exhibitions.

8. Research & Continuous Improvement

● Stay updated with emerging developments in STEM education, technology and pedagogy.

● Research new tools, technologies, teaching methodologies and global STEM practices.

● Pilot innovative approaches and evaluate their effectiveness.

● Use feedback, student outcomes, teacher observations and implementation data to improve programmes.

● Build a culture of experimentation and evidence-based decision-making within the STEM department.

9. Stakeholder Management

● Collaborate with academic, operations, procurement, IT, marketing and school leadership teams.

● Work with school principals, coordinators and teachers to ensure successful programme implementation.

● Coordinate with external vendors, technology companies, STEM organisations and educational partners.

● Represent the STEM department in internal and external meetings when required.

10. Reporting & Performance Monitoring

● Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and review mechanisms for STEM programmes.

● Track programme implementation, teacher training, student participation and key academic outcomes.

● Present regular updates, insights and recommendations to the Head – STEM and senior leadership.

● Identify risks, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities and drive their resolution.

Required Qualifications & ExperienceEducation

● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Education or a related field.

● Additional qualifications in Education, STEM Education, Robotics, Coding, AI or related areas will be an advantage.

Experience

● 6–10+ years of relevant experience in STEM education, curriculum development, educational technology, robotics, coding, innovation, school programmes or a related domain.

● Experience managing teams and/or large-scale academic programmes.

● Experience working with schools, teachers and students.

● Experience in curriculum development and teacher training.

● Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

● Experience with STEM competitions, innovation programmes or maker spaces will be an advantage.

Success in the Role The successful candidate should be able to move beyond "doing STEM activities" and demonstrate the ability to build systems, lead people, develop programmes and scale high-quality STEM education across a large school network.

The role requires a combination of:

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹160,000.00 per month
