Role Description The Consultant General Surgeon will provide comprehensive surgical care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and performance of general and GI surgical procedures. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting outpatient consultations, managing inpatient and emergency cases, performing elective and emergency surgeries, and ensuring appropriate pre-operative and post-operative care. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams such as anesthesiology, critical care, oncology, orthopedics, radiology, and nursing staff to deliver coordinated care.

Surgeon will participate in clinical meetings, seminars, and live surgery workshops, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and maintain accurate medical records in line with hospital and regulatory standards. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Dehradun, requiring active involvement in both routine and emergency surgical services.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Medicine, including patient assessment, diagnosis, and management of pre- and post-operative conditions.
- Advanced skills in Surgery, with expertise in general and GI procedures and familiarity with minimally invasive and laparoscopic techniques.
- Exposure to Orthopedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery to support multidisciplinary surgical case management and complex trauma care.
- Awareness of Ophthalmology and other super-specialties to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary hospital setting.
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate qualification in General Surgery (MS/DNB or equivalent), with valid registration from the relevant medical council.
- Demonstrated experience as an independent General Surgeon in a hospital setting, preferably in a multi-specialty or tertiary care setting.
- Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and emergency management skills, with adherence to evidence-based practices and patient safety standards.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with a commitment to ethical, non-discriminatory, and compassionate patient care.
