Role Description The Consult Infectious Diseases role at Amara Hospital is a full time, on-site position based in Tirupati. The professional in this role will evaluate and manage patients with infectious diseases, providing expert consultation to inpatient and outpatient services, including complex and multi-drug resistant infections. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting detailed clinical assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, recommending evidence-based treatment plans, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

The role also involves contributing to antimicrobial stewardship programs, infection prevention and control initiatives, and supporting hospital policies to reduce healthcare-associated infections. Teaching and mentoring junior clinicians, nurses,



and other healthcare professionals, as well as participating in clinical meetings and quality improvement activities, are integral parts of this position.

Qualifications

- Advanced clinical training and qualifications in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases (MD or equivalent), with valid medical licensure as per local regulatory requirements.
- Strong expertise in diagnosing and managing a broad range of infectious diseases, including tropical infections, hospital-acquired infections, and immunocompromised patient care.
- Experience in antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, and familiarity with current clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, with explicit, respectful communication and effective coordination with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and maintaining high standards of clinical documentation and medical record keeping.
- Interest in teaching, mentoring, and participating in case discussions, clinical audits, and continuous professional development activities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple consultations and follow-ups in a busy clinical environment.
- Comfort working in an on-site hospital setting in Tirupati; prior experience in tertiary or specialty care hospitals is an advantage.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is beneficial for patient communication.
