About the roleWe are looking for a Cartography & Visualization Intern who can turn complex Earth-observation datasets into clear, scientifically rigorous and visually compelling maps and spatial visualizations.
This is not a conventional GIS role. You will work directly with cloud-hosted Earth-observation data, specialized scientific datasets and computational visualization workflows, using AWS and Python.
What you will work withDepending on the project, datasets may include:
- Multispectral satellite imagery
- SAR imagery
- Thermal datasets
- Vegetation indices
- Ocean and coastal datasets
- Weather and atmospheric data
- Elevation and terrain datasets
- Land-cover datasets
- Specialized environmental datasets
- Arjuna's internally generated geospatial products
What you will do
- Transform large scientific datasets into intuitive spatial visualizations.
- Develop publication-quality maps and visualizations using Python.
- Work with raster and vector geospatial data programmatically.
- Create visualizations showing spatial patterns, change and environmental conditions.
- Develop consistent visual conventions for Arjuna's Earth-intelligence products.
- Prepare visual outputs for research, customer demonstrations, technical reports and product interfaces.
- Work with engineers and Earth-observation researchers to understand the underlying datasets.
- Explore ways to communicate complex satellite-derived information to non-technical users.
- Build reusable visualization workflows rather than manually creating individual maps.
- Help develop Arjuna's visual language for Earth intelligence.

You do not need QGIS or ArcGIS experience. Who we're looking forYou could be studying or recently graduated in:
- Geography
- Geoinformatics
- Remote Sensing
- Earth Sciences
- Environmental Science
- Aerospace
- Data Science
- Computer Science
- Design / Information Visualization
- Physics
- Mathematics
- or a related field.
We're particularly interested in someone who combines scientific curiosity with visual thinking. Robust candidates will have
- Good Python fundamentals
- Interest in satellite/Earth-observation data
- An eye for visual composition
- Understanding of spatial data
- Curiosity about scientific datasets
- Ability to explain complex information visually
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to learn unfamiliar datasets and technologies
