Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Node.js and JavaScript.
- Design, develop, integrate, and troubleshoot RESTful APIs for internal and external system integrations.
- Work with Azure Cosmos DB for data modelling, querying, indexing, partitioning, optimization, and application data management.
- Utilize Azure App Service for application hosting, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Work with Azure Function Apps and understand serverless functions, triggers, bindings, configuration, deployment, and monitoring.
- Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, frontend developers, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver quality solutions.
- Perform code reviews, defect analysis, technical troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Follow secure coding standards, source-control practices, development guidelines, and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to technical documentation, reusable components, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate technical progress, risks, dependencies, blockers, and support requirements effectively to stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of overall software development experience with strong hands-on backend development expertise.
- Strong expertise in Node.js for developing, debugging, and maintaining backend services.




- Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript, including asynchronous programming, modules, error handling, and clean coding practices.
- Strong experience with RESTful API design, development, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB, including:

- Data modelling

- Querying

- Indexing

- Partitioning concepts

- Performance optimization

- Data validation
- Basic to good understanding of Azure App Service, including hosting, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Basic to good understanding of Azure Function Apps, including triggers, bindings, configuration, deployment, and monitoring.
- Understanding of cloud-based application development, scalability, reliability, setting configuration, and operational support.
- Strong understanding of backend design principles, secure coding, source control, code reviews, and application troubleshooting.
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies and sprint-based delivery teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred candidate profile
- Experience with microservices or distributed services architecture.
- Exposure to Azure API Management, Application Insights, Azure Monitor, and other Azure services.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, dependency scanning, and DevOps practices.
- Exposure to Docker and containerization.
- Knowledge of messaging services and event-driven application patterns.
- Azure or relevant cloud certification is an advantage.
