Backend Software Engineer - .NET/Azure

Role Description

Hiring Backend Software Engineer to join our Pest Elimination division's digital technology team. You will build and maintain .NET 8 services and Azure cloud components that power field operations: REST APIs used by thousands of service professionals, background processors that sync work into our Azure SQL platform, and integrations with enterprise systems such as ERP and Salesforce.

This is a hands-on coding and testing role. You will implement API endpoints, message processors, and Azure Functions; write and review T-SQL against our PAD database; and help keep production systems reliable through tests, logging, and CI/CD. You will work in a layered C# codebase (API / business / data) alongside senior engineers, shipping features through Azure DevOps across Dev, QA, and Prod.

Minimum Technical Requirements

- 3–5 years of qualified backend development experience
- Proficiency in C# and .NET (8 or higher) with ASP.NET Core web APIs
- Working knowledge of SQL Server / Azure SQL and T-SQL (queries, stored procedures, basic schema changes)
- Hands-on experience with core Azure services (App Service, Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage)
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience in agile/scrum teams
- Ability to write clean, tested, maintainable C#

Preferred Technical Requirements

- Entity Framework Core in a layered (API / business / data)

- Comfort reading and changing SQL schemas, stored procedures, and indexes
- API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger) and API versioning
- Awareness of cloud security basics (secrets, auth, least privilege)

Education/Work Experience Typically requires a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field and 3–5 years of backend development experience; or no degree and 7–9 years combined education and equivalent backend development experience (typically 1 year experience = 1 year education). Must demonstrate experience building .NET APIs and working with SQL and Azure (or comparable cloud) services.

Independence Level/Reports To

Individual contributor with growing technical depth in backend development. Delivers features and fixes across APIs, processors, and data layers with guidance from a tech lead or senior engineer. Participates in code reviews, agile ceremonies, and production support. Normally reports to Engineering Manager, Sr.
