Assistant Manager – Collections
Role: Individual Contributor | Location: Gurugram | Employment: Full-Time Experience: 5–8+ years | Industry: US Collections / Logistics / Transportation / Credit Card Collections
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – Collections to independently manage a portfolio of US customer accounts and drive timely recovery of outstanding receivables.
This is a pure Individual Contributor role with no direct reports. The candidate will handle complex and high-value accounts, resolve payment issues, negotiate commitments, and own collections through closure.
Experience in US logistics/transportation or credit card collections is preferred, along with strong knowledge of the US transportation industry and FMCSA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage end-to-end collections for assigned US customer accounts.
· Follow up on overdue receivables through email, phone, and other channels.
· Review aging, statements, payment history, deductions, short payments, and disputes.
· Resolve payment issues by coordinating with customers and internal teams including Sales, Operations, Billing, Credit, and Finance.
· Own high-value, aged, and escalated accounts through resolution.
· Negotiate and track payment commitments, payment plans, and settlements where applicable.
· Track payment releases, remittances, ACH/wire details, and payment applications.
· Escalate delinquent accounts and support third-party/legal recovery when required.
· Maintain accurate collection records and provide updates on aging, high-risk accounts, expected collections, and cash flow.
· Meet assigned collection targets and KPIs while following company policies and applicable US industry requirements.
Requirements
· 5–8+ years of experience in Collections, Accounts Receivable, or Credit & Collections.
· Current designation preferably at Senior Executive / Senior Associate / Senior Specialist level or equivalent.
· Proven experience independently managing US customer accounts.
· Strong preference for US logistics/transportation collections; US credit card/BFSI collections experience may also be considered.
· Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations.
· Excellent English communication, negotiation, follow-up, and objection-handling skills.
· Ability to communicate confidently with senior-level customers.
· Solid analytical and Excel/MS Office skills.
· Ability to independently prioritize multiple accounts and work effectively during US business hours.
Preferred Profile
· Female candidate preferred.
· Experience handling high-value, aged, disputed, or complex delinquent accounts.
· Demonstrated track record of independently driving recovery and meeting collection targets.
- Important: Despite the Assistant Manager designation, this is strictly an Individual Contributor position with no direct reports. The selected candidate will be responsible for independently managing accounts and delivering measurable collection results.
