The opportunity

Unity's Accounting team is looking for an Accounting Manager to own leases and capital assets — one of the most technical corners of our close, and one that touches nearly every office we operate.

You will own ASC 842 lease accounting for a global real estate portfolio, along with fixed assets, construction in progress and capitalized software. That means real technical work rather than routine processing: impairments and office closures, lease modifications and terminations, asset retirement obligations, subleases, and the capitalization decisions behind a software portfolio spanning three business units. Your numbers flow straight into our 10-Q and 10-K disclosures.

You will lead a team of analysts based in Bangalore and partner daily with Technical Accounting, SEC Reporting, FP&A;, Real Estate & Workplace, AP and IT, as well as our external auditors. You will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting, based in the US.

This position requires working during late evening hours from 2 PM to 11 PM (IST), with a 1-hour lunch break included. Are you available to work during these Non-Shift hours?

What you'll be doing

- Own ASC 842 accounting for Unity's global lease portfolio end to end — new leases, modifications, terminations, subleases, impairments and asset retirement obligations — including the monthly close entries and reconciliations.
- Own fixed assets and capitalized software: additions, transfers, disposals, CWIP, depreciation and amortization, quarterly impairment reviews, and the rollforwards that support our PP&E; and software footnotes.
- Review the work of a team of analysts, and coach them — you will be the reviewer on the workpapers, not the preparer.
- Research technical accounting questions and write the memos that support our positions, then carry those positions through internal and external audit and SOX testing.
- Lead process improvement and automation across your areas, from standardizing SOPs to replacing manual rollforwards with system-driven reporting.

What we're looking for

- Hands-on ASC 842 lease accounting across a multi-entity, multi-currency portfolio, including modifications, terminations, subleases and impairment.
- Fixed asset and capital project accounting: rollforward, CWIP, depreciation, disposals and impairment.




- Capitalized software accounting under ASC 350-40 and/or ASC 985-20.
- Ownership of a monthly and quarterly close cycle in a public-company control environment, including SOX key controls and IPE documentation.
- Direct experience managing and reviewing the work of other accountants, and working with external auditors on workpapers and walkthroughs.

You might also have

- Experience with Workday Financials and ProLease (or another dedicated lease system such as Visual Lease or CoStar).
- SEC reporting experience supporting 10-Q and 10-K footnote deliverables.
- A track record of automating recurring accounting workpapers or building reporting that removed manual effort.
- Chartered Accountant or CPA.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams and stakeholders across US, EMEA and APAC time zones.

Base Salary Range: ₹2,408,600 - ₹3,613,000 INR gross

This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
