Role & responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Manager with strong hands-on expertise in GST and automobile manufacturing finance. The ideal candidate should have solid experience in the automobile / auto-components manufacturing industry with in-depth knowledge of GST compliance, GST reconciliation, input tax credit, e-invoicing, e-way bills, GST returns, taxation, accounting, costing, inventory, and financial reporting.
The candidate will be responsible for managing the complete accounting function while ensuring 100% accuracy and timely compliance with GST and other statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. GST & Taxation Strong Hands-on Experience
- Manage end-to-end GST compliance for the organization.
- Prepare, review, and ensure timely filing of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C and other applicable GST returns.
- Strong knowledge of Input Tax Credit (ITC), including eligibility, reversals, blocked credits, and reconciliation.
- Perform regular GSTR-2B vs. books reconciliation and identify unmatched invoices, missing credits, and incorrect claims.
- Ensure accurate accounting of CGST, SGST, IGST, and applicable GST adjustments.
- Handle GST e-invoicing and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
- Monitor and verify e-way bills and resolve discrepancies.
- Review GST treatment of purchases, sales, services, job work, subcontracting, and other business transactions.
- Handle GST on inter-state and intra-state transactions.
- Review debit notes, credit notes, purchase returns, sales returns, and GST adjustments.
- Ensure proper GST treatment for job work / subcontracting transactions, particularly relevant to manufacturing operations.
- Monitor GST input credit availability and follow up with vendors for missing or incorrect invoices.
- Handle GST notices, departmental queries, audits, assessments, and reconciliations.
- Coordinate with GST consultants, tax advisors, auditors, and government authorities whenever required.
- Maintain proper GST documentation and records for audit and statutory requirements.
- Keep updated with changes in GST laws,
notifications, circulars, and applicable rules and implement necessary changes in the organization.
2. General Accounting
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations.
- Review purchase, sales, receipt, payment, journal, and expense entries.
- Ensure proper ledger scrutiny and reconciliation.
- Manage monthly and annual closing activities.
- Prepare and review P&L;, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, and schedules.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
3. Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
- Handle accounting related to raw materials, WIP, finished goods, consumables, and scrap.
- Monitor inventory accounting and reconciliation.
- Prepare and review product costing and cost sheets.
- Analyze material, labour, production, and overhead costs.
- Monitor production cost variances and identify cost-control opportunities.
- Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Stores, and Operations teams regarding inventory and costing.
- Review inventory valuation and slow-moving / obsolete inventory provisions.
4. Accounts Receivable & Payable
- Monitor customer outstanding and collection status.
- Review receivable ageing and follow up on overdue payments.
- Manage vendor accounts and payment schedules.
- Conduct regular customer and vendor reconciliations.
- Verify invoices, debit notes, credit notes, and supporting documents.
- Ensure proper accounting and GST treatment of vendor/customer transactions.
5. MIS & Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly MIS reports for management.
- Prepare and analyses
- Sales and profitability
- Receivables and payables
- Inventory
- Cash flow
- Working capital
- Production costs
- Budget vs. actuals
- Cost variances
- Provide management with accurate financial information and analysis.
6. Audit & Statutory Compliance
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, tax auditors, and GST consultants.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Maintain complete documentation for GST, tax, and statutory audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting and statutory requirements.
7. Team Management
- Supervise and guide the Accounts team.
- Review accounting entries and ensure accuracy of work performed by team members.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor deadlines.
- Train team members on accounting, GST compliance, and internal processes.
- Coordinate effectively with other departments.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong practical knowledge of GST and GST compliance
- Strong understanding of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C
- Strong knowledge of ITC and GSTR-2B reconciliation
- Hands-on experience in GST reconciliation and return filing
- Knowledge of e-invoicing and e-way bills
- Experience handling GST notices and departmental queries
- Good understanding of CGST, SGST, IGST
- Knowledge of GST implications on job work / subcontracting
- Strong accounting and taxation knowledge
- Manufacturing / automobile industry experience
- Excellent MS Excel skills
- Experience with SAP / Tally / other ERP systems
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
Key Requirement Robust GST knowledge and hands-on experience in GST compliance is mandatory for this position. Candidates should be capable of independently managing GST returns, ITC reconciliation, GST audits/notices, e-invoicing, e-way bills, and day-to-day GST-related matters.
