Position: 1st Class Mines Manager

Department: Mining

Industry: Coal Mining – Opencast

Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering

Certification: Valid First-Class Manager’s Certificate of Competency for Coal Mines under applicable CMR/DGMS requirements

Experience: 10+ years in coal mining, preferably in large-scale opencast mines

Key Responsibilities

- Overall management and supervision of opencast coal mining operations.
- Ensure achievement of coal production and OB removal targets.
- Manage mine development, excavation, loading, hauling, dumping, and coal dispatch.
- Plan and monitor deployment and utilization of HEMM such as excavators, dumpers, dozers, graders, and loaders.
- Ensure safe and productive drilling and blasting operations.
- Monitor bench formation, mine slopes, haul roads, ramps, working faces, and OB dumps.
- Ensure compliance with Coal Mines Regulations, DGMS requirements, approved Mining Plan, and applicable statutory provisions.
- Maintain high standards of mine safety and conduct regular workplace inspections.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Blasting, Geology, Safety, CHPP,



Environment, and Planning departments.
- Monitor equipment availability, utilization, productivity, fuel consumption, and cycle time.
- Prepare and implement monthly and annual production plans.
- Control mining costs and improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Supervise mine officials, supervisors, operators, contractors, and other mining personnel.
- Ensure statutory records, registers, plans, reports, and returns are properly maintained.
- Handle DGMS inspections, statutory audits, accident investigations, and compliance requirements.
- Identify operational risks and implement corrective and preventive measures.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in large-scale HEMM-based opencast coal mining, with proven expertise in production, mine planning, drilling & blasting, HEMM management, safety, statutory compliance, and manpower management. Mandatory: Valid First-Class Manager’s Certificate of Competency for Coal Mines and relevant experience in coal mining.
