CRA designs and manufactures custom-engineered systems for the Energy and Defence sectors. We deliver complex projects end-to-end, entirely in-house, combining design, engineering, and manufacturing under one roof. Role Overview

You will lead mechanical design for CRA's equipment and packages, and the design engineers and draughtsmen who produce it. This is a hands-on role. You will do and check design calculations, approve drawings and BOMs before release, and work with our fabrication shop so designs are practical and economical to build.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead mechanical design of vessels and columns, combustion chambers and stacks, refractory-lined equipment, and skid-mounted and containerised systems

- Perform and check design calculations: ASME Section VIII Div 1, wind and seismic design of stacks and structures, nozzle loads, lifting and skid frames

- Check and approve GA drawings, fabrication drawings and 3D models before release

- Own the engineering BOM for each project and release it to procurement and production

- Own drawing standards, numbering and revision control for mechanical deliverables

- Design for manufacture and cost: material selection, standard plate and pipe sizes, weld details the shop can build





- Prepare specifications for bought-out mechanical items, and review vendor offers and drawings

- Resolve shop-floor queries and NCRs, and support inspection, hydrotest, FAT and site commissioning

- Work with process and E&I; engineers on layouts, nozzle orientation, access and maintainability

- Mentor and develop design engineers and draughtsmen.

Requirements

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

- 8 to 12 years in mechanical design of process equipment with an OEM, fabricator or EPC, including at least 2 years checking other engineers drawings and calculations

- Hands-on with ASME Section VIII Div 1 and ASME B31.3, using PV Elite or equivalent

- Proficient in AutoCAD and at least one 3D tool (SolidWorks, Inventor or AutoCAD Plant 3D)

- Sound fabrication knowledge: welding, materials including stainless steels, NDT and inspection

- Able to read a P&ID; and heat and mass balance well enough to challenge them

- Preferred: flares, thermal oxidisers or refractory-lined equipment; stack design to IS 6533 or ASME STS-1; compressor and blower skids; EN 13445/PED; Caesar II; export projects.
