Job Description - Mechanical Engineer Fan Wall Units | Thermal Management

Location: Chakan, Pune, India
Department: R&D; - Thermal Management
Experience: 1-3 Years
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Role Purpose

Responsible for the mechanical engineering and development of Fan Wall Units for CHW applications, with focus on product design, sheet metal, piping, manufacturability, cost optimization, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for Fan Wall Units and CHW applications.
- Work on sheet metal structures, frames, panels, brackets, supports, and mechanical assemblies.
- Develop and review CHW piping layouts, component integration, clearances, and serviceability.
- Apply DFM/DFA principles to improve manufacturability, assembly, quality, and cost.
- Support new product development, localization, re-engineering, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Prepare/review engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and product documentation.
- Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and resolution of manufacturing/field issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement mechanical design improvements.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, Suppliers, Thermal, Electrical,



and Controls teams.
- Support engineering changes through ECR/ECO and PLM processes.
- Drive standardization of components and mechanical design practices.

Technical Skills
- Strong fundamentals in Mechanical Engineering and Product Design.
- Good knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication processes.
- Understanding of HVAC, Fan Wall/AHU systems, CHW, fans, heat exchangers, and basic thermodynamics.
- Knowledge of piping layouts, mechanical integration, and serviceability.
- Understanding of GD&T;, engineering drawings, tolerances, and DFM/DFA.
- Working knowledge of PTC Creo or equivalent CAD tools.
- Exposure to BOM, PLM, and engineering change processes.

Preferred Experience
- Experience in HVAC, Thermal Management, Fan Wall, AHU, or similar mechanical products.
- Exposure to product development, manufacturing, or supplier coordination.
- Experience in product localization and cost optimization is an advantage.
