- Conceptualize and create engaging videos, animations, illustrations
- Collaborate with a team of creatives (film and video producers, directors, editors, creative directors)
- Take direction from clients, producers, and directors
- Manage a team of graphic artists and typographers to deliver unique motion graphics sequences
- Collaborate with writers, animators, art directors, and other motion graphics artists on storyboards and scripts
- Work both independently and in a group
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders on each product to ensure deadlines are met
Job qualifications and skill sets
Below are the qualifications expected of a motion graphics designer:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, video production, visual effects, or a related field
- One to three years of experience in animation
- A robust portfolio exemplifying ability to tell a story through motion
- Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro), Final Cut Pro, Cinema 4D, Blender, Maya, and other motion graphics design software
- Comprehensive understanding of typography and its use within graphic design
- Understanding of color theory
- Knowledge of the basic principles of design
- Knowledge of branding and visual systems
