JOB DESCRIPTION
COMMUNITY MANAGER – HOSTEL STUDENT EXPERIENCE
Department: Hostel Operations | Location: CMR University – Lakeside Campus
Reports To: Senior Manager – Hostel Operations
ROLE PURPOSE
The Community Manager will create a vibrant, connected and engaging hostel community by understanding student interests, developing meaningful activities, encouraging student leadership and creating memorable student experiences.
The role is the bridge between Hostel Management and students—listening to students, converting their ideas into initiatives and enabling students to take ownership of their hostel community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Student Engagement & Community Building
- Maintain regular interaction and a visible presence across hostels.
- Understand the student pulse—interests, expectations, concerns and emerging trends.
- Drive student forums, feedback activities and engagement initiatives.
- Build an inclusive environment where students feel heard, connected and valued.
- Convert student feedback and ideas into meaningful activities and improvements.
2. Events, Shows & Entertainment
- Plan and execute a vibrant calendar of Movie Nights, sports, cultural, entertainment, celebrations, competitions, shows and recreational activities.
- Develop fresh and creative event concepts based on student interests.
- Coordinate event planning, budgets, permissions, logistics, vendors and execution.
- Organise activities such as movie nights, talent shows, festivals, tournaments, theme events and student celebrations.
- Review participation and feedback after major events and continuously improve future programmes.
3. Student Leadership & Clubs
- Develop and mentor the Hostel Student Leadership Team, clubs and volunteers.
- Encourage students to initiate and independently lead programmes.
- Build a strong volunteer and future student-leader pipeline.
- Work closely with student representatives and support them in planning and executing initiatives.

Communication & Community Storytelling
- Create engaging communication to drive participation through approved digital and physical channels.
- Prepare and submit a Monthly Hostel Events & Community Newsletter covering key activities, achievements and student highlights.
- Provide content and coordination support for the Hostel Magazine.
- Capture and showcase student achievements, events, leadership and community stories through approved University platforms.
5. Coordination & Execution
- Coordinate with Wardens, Security, Housekeeping, MEP, Mess, Administration, vendors and other teams for event requirements.
- Ensure activities are conducted safely, professionally and within approved budgets.
- Maintain event records, participation data, feedback and expenditure.
- Escalate matters requiring formal disciplinary, safety or welfare intervention through the appropriate Hostel Management channel.
6. Engagement Analytics & Reporting
- Track participation, repeat participation and engagement trends.
- Identify less-engaged student groups and develop suitable initiatives.
- Submit a Monthly Community Engagement Report with key observations and recommendations.
- Use student feedback and participation data to improve the engagement calendar.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for an energetic, creative and highly people-oriented professional who genuinely enjoys working with young people and creating memorable experiences.
Preferred Background
- Bachelor's degree.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in event management, community engagement, student activities, hospitality, entertainment or a similar environment.
- Hands-on experience in organising events, shows, entertainment programmes, cultural activities, competitions or large student/community gatherings will be strongly preferred.
- A vibrant interest and practical knowledge of events, entertainment and engagement activities, with the ability to bring fresh ideas.
- Experience working with college/university/Other Event Managements students or youth communities is highly desirable.
